New study ‘explodes’ narrative that people are born ‘gay’

Image
The findings of a recently published study explode the false narrative that being “gay” is an innate condition that is controlled or largely compelled by one's genetic makeup.   Rebutting decades of search by LGBT scientists for a "gay gene," the study's first author flatly concludes "it will be basically impossible to predict one’s sexual activity or orientation just from genetics.”   This is putting it gently.   The study found that a person's developmental environment -- the influence of diet, family, friends, neighborhood, religion, and a host of other life conditions -- was twice as influential as genetics on the probability of adopting same-sex behavior or orientation, and that the genetic influence did not come from one or two strong sources but from dozens of genetic variants that each added a small increased propensity for same-sex behavior. A genetic arrangement based on a large number of markers across the genome means that virtually al

"Homosexuality Is Not Hardwired," Concludes Dr. Francis S. Collins, Head Of The Human Genome Project

By A. Dean Byrd, Ph.D, MBA, MPH Francis S. Collins, one of the world's leading scientists who works at the cutting edge of DNA research, concluded that "there is an inescapable component of heritability to many human behavioral traits." However, he adds, "for virtually none of them, is heredity ever close to predictive." In reviewing the heritability (i.e., the influence of genetic factors) on personality traits, Dr. Collins referenced the research of Bouchard and McGue for the estimated percentage of these traits that can be ascribed to heredity. The heritability estimates for personality traits were varied: General Cognitive Ability (50%), Extroversion (54%), Agreeableness (42%), Conscientiousness (49%), Neuroticism (48%), Openness (57%), Aggression (38%) and Traditionalism (54%). Such estimates of heritability are based upon unbiased, careful analyses of studies conducted with identical twins. The studies lead to the conclusion that heredity is important i

Question: Are people born gay? Doesn't this mean God made them gay?

Image
Question: Are people born gay ? Doesn't this mean God made them gay? No adequate scientific evidence exists that suggests an individual can be "born" with a same-sex sexual orientation. Nevertheless, the testimony of those struggling with same- sex attraction reveals that that attraction and sense of sexual interest can come very early.  Indeed, it can come so early that many people cannot pinpoint how early such an interest appeared. Christians should not run from this question. Biblical theology reminds us that the consequences of the fall are so comprehensive that we should expect sin to impact everything from our self-centeredness to molecular structure.  If a biological cause or genetic link explaining same-sex attraction is ever discovered, Christians should be among the least surprised. Such a finding would certainly inform our pastoral understanding and approach to persons with a same- sex orientation because we recognize that sin even affects

Scientific Result: No Gay gene - Homosexuality is erroneous desire.

Dr. Paul R. McHugh , a plenary speaker at this year's Mere Anglicanism conference, served as the Henry Phipps professor of psychiatry, director of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine , and psychiatrist in chief at the Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1975 to 2001. The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine named him distinguished service professor in 1998. Lydia Evans, a lay leader in the Diocese of South Carolina, interviewed Dr. McHugh on a variety of topics. They began by discussing the work of Dr. John Money (1921–2006), who was perhaps best known for his supervision and study of David Peter Reimer 's gender reassignment. Were there opportunities to achieve a fairly direct exchange of worldviews? I had enough of a fight putting an end to sex-change operations and saying that we were no longer going to teach sexuality to the medical students the way he was teaching it. It became clear that I was going

Homosexuals can change

Image
Chris Delaney , head of Joseph's Coat Ministries, helps council people with same-sex attractions who want to change. Delaney, who was once gay, decided to change after years of being unhappy with his life. After 12 years of boyfriends and gay bars, Chris Delaney decided he was miserable as a homosexual and ready to change. "I realized I didn't even like that behavior. I so needed male affirmation," said the 38-year-old resident of Ringgold, Ga. "So I decided I was willing to give faith another chance. I told God, 'I've run my life for 12 years, and it's been a mess. I'm going to hand it back over to you.' " Fifteen years later, Mr. Delaney now proudly labels himself an "ex-gay," having undergone what he describes as a lengthy spiritual transformation in which he was sexually reoriented. Since 1996, he has ministered to hundreds of others through the nonprofit evangelical organization Joseph's Coat Ministries. Mr. Delan

Transgenderism - sex is fluid and a matter of choice is extremely damaging

Image
Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University and former psychiatrist–in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital, who has studied transgendered people for 40 years, said it is a scientific fact that “transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men.” All such people, he explained in an article for The Witherspoon Institute , “become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they ‘identify.’” Dr. McHugh , who was psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital for 26 years, the medical institute that had initially pioneered sex-change surgery – and later ceased the practice – stressed that the cultural meme, or idea that “one’s sex is fluid and a matter of choice” is extremely damaging, especially to young people. “I am ever trying to be the boy among the bystanders who points to what’s real,” said Dr. McHugh, who is also professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Scien

Bible summary of homosexuality

Homosexual activist Elton John: Pope Francis ‘is my hero’

Image
Believe (Elton John song) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Demonstrating ongoing public confusion about Pope Francis, homosexual activist musician Elton John called the Pope his hero at a fundraiser for his AIDS foundation last night. While he heaped praise on Pope Francis, John attacked the Catholic Church and previous Popes . Ignoring the fact that the Catholic Church has done more to help AIDS patients than any other entity on the planet, the singer said: “Ten years ago one of the biggest obstacles in the fight against AIDS was the Catholic Church. Today we have a pope that speaks out about it.” Praising Pope Francis’ ‘who am I to judge’ line, the singer said, “He did more with those five words than the last five popes. He is my hero." John, who in 2006 said he would ban religion completely since he felt it caused hatred of ‘gays’, said the pope "is a compassionate, loving man who wants everybody to be included in the love of God. It is formidable what he is trying to

Georgetown Univ. celebrates ‘LGBTQ History Month’ with ‘OUTober’

Georgetown University ’s LGBTQ Resource Center and GU Pride are currently holding “OUTober,” an ongoing event celebrating “LGBTQ History Month,” according to  The Hoya . This year’s OUTober featured a “coming out day” and a lecture from a transgender activist. According to the  campaign description , this year’s theme for OUTober is “OUT FOR.” The description states that the theme “echoes Georgetown’s Jesuit values, highlighting the commitment and responsibility of Georgetown students as ‘men and women for others.’”  However, the event description makes no mention of Catholic teaching on human sexuality . The  Catechism of the Catholic Church  states that men and women with homosexual tendencies must be treated with “respect, compassion, and sensitivity,” but that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered” and that “[h]omosexual persons are called to chastity.” Also, a  Vatican statement  entitled “Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Bet

Gay activist leaders under criminal investigation in Sweden, Netherlands

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Surprising as it may seem, even in Sweden and the Netherlands , two countries where the “gay rights” agenda has been pushed farther than elsewhere, there are still some limits that LGBT activists should not overstep. In Sweden,  a former chairman of RFSL (Riksförbundet för homosexuellas, bisexuellas och transpersoners rättigheter, the Swedish affiliate of ILGA Europe) has been sentenced to five years in prison.  The charges brought against him include aggravated rape, unlawful deprivation of liberty , pimping, sexual exploitation of dependent persons, assault, and breach of trust. According to the judgment, he had raped young men whom he had invited to stay in his apartment, and forced them to sell sex in exchange for drugs and housing. This went on for two years. When the men wanted to leave him, he threatene

Did God give the gift of homosexuality to Tim Cook?

Image
Tim Cook, Apple COO, in january 2009, after Macworld Expo keynote. Picture by Valery Marchive (LeMagIT) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Apple chief executive Tim Cook has publicly acknowledged his sexuality, saying he's "proud to be gay." "So let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," Mr Cook revealed in an article he wrote in Bloomberg Businessweek . Does God give the gift of the sin of homosexuality? Is  there a gay gene ? Is Homosexuality a lifestyle choice ? The scripture call homosexuality a sin. There are degrees of sin. Christ states the person who betrayed him had performed a greater sin. The Apostle Paul when listing evidence of the rejection of God from nature, which was seen and understood, rejected their natural God-given desires, and God handing them over to the consequences of their sin. Paul lists lesbianism first then make homosexuality as examples of extreme si

No Gay gene

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Many laymen now believe that homosexuality is part of   who a person really is   from the moment of conception. The "genetic and unchangeable" theory has been actively promoted by gay activists and the popular media. Is homosexuality really an inborn and normal variant of human nature? No. There is no evidence that shows that homosexuality is simply "genetic."  And none of the research claims there is.   Only the press and certain researchers do, when speaking in sound bites to the public. How The Public Was Misled In July of 1993, the prestigious research journal  Science  published a study by Dean Hamer which claims that there might be a gene for homosexuality. Research seemed to be on the verge of proving that homosexuality is innate, genetic and therefore unchangeablea normal variant of human nature. Soon afterward, National Publ
