A third elected county clerk in Kentucky has joined Kim Davis in refusing to violate her conscience and the constitution of the state of Kentucky by issuing 'marriage' licenses to same-sex couples . According to media reports , Whitley County Clerk Kay Schwartz will not issue same-sex marriage licenses which are illegal under Kentucky law. The ACLU is considering a lawsuit to attempt to force her to issue the licenses even though doing so violates both her conscience and the state constitution. We need more of that – a version for mature, hopeful, civilised grown-ups. The current debate over same-sex marriage is one-sided, volatile, even violent. In the movement to open up and move forward, the side that supports the prevailing laws and conventions is increasingly silenced. And it is not only same-sex marriage that features this concerning trend. In the explosive social media spaces particularly, there are now some views you are seemingly not allowed to express – and by doing so are called a bigot. Oh, the irony. You can’t support cracking down on illegal migration, or even express concerns about radical minority religious elements or minority groups when they are revealed to commit a disproportionate amount of a particular kind of crime, even though you are allowed the virtual elbow room to spout

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) When history looks back on the 2012-2013 legislative year, I believe it will be remembered as the year Americans realized the same-sex marriage movement for what it truly is:  a bullying behemoth that puts the very foundations of our democracy at stake. Right now, living through it all, it's been a somewhat discouraging year for believers in true marriage. We've seen a few narrow losses in some close, hard-fought battles. In some ways, the deck was stacked against us in these states — all of which were deep blue and controlled by Democrats , most with super majorities. But the "low hanging fruit" for the other side is gone. Now we have the chance to make sure the wave of same-sex marriage momentum crests and rolls back. That story is  ours  to write: this is  your  time, along with countless other pro-marriage Americans, to make history. From the earliest days of the marri
