A pair of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced a resolution condemning what they say is the “transphobic history” of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Dr. Ben Carson. Reps. Mike Quigley of Illinois and Katie Hill of California, the only self-declared “bisexual” in the U.S. House, acted in response to comments that Dr. Carson made to HUD employees in San Francisco expressing concern about “big, hairy men” pretending to be female in order to infiltrate women’s homeless shelters. To date, twenty states and many cities have made it illegal to offer therapy for minors unless it affirms the LGBT agenda — and several more are considering similar bans. In these jurisdictions, therapists may help a child or teen accept same-sex attraction or different gender identity, but they will not help a teen who aspires to change his same-sex attraction or sexual identity. It is illegal even to ask questions to help a child explore underlying issues related to sexual orientation or gender identity. A so-called "human rights tribunal" in Canada has just ruled that a Christian activist must pay $55,000 to a provincial politician because he referred to this politician as a "biological male" in a political pamphlet. The politician in question, Morgane Oger (born Ronan Oger), is a biological male. However, he has since "transitioned," and is living his life as a "transgender woman." According to the decision, Bill Whatcott must compensate Oger for injuring the latter's "dignity, feelings, and self-respect." The terrifying precedent set by this case can be illustrated by one, flabbergasting fact: The judge in the case refused to allow Whatcott's lawyer to offer testimony showing that, in point of fact, Oger is a biological male. Not only conservative organizations, but even feminists and one homosexual activist are warning against House Democrats’ “Equality Act,” which they fear will squelch free speech and endanger religious freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. As a former area high school student continues to fight the matter in court, a school board in Virginia says it’s holding off implementation of a new policy to force students to share restrooms with members of the opposite sex. Gavin Grimm is a female Gloucester High School graduate who “identifies” as male and has been the face of one of the country’s most high-profile transgender bathroom lawsuits since 2014. The Gloucester County School Board originally attempted to accommodate her request by letting her use a private restroom, but Grimm demanded access to the same restrooms used by male students. District Judge Arenda Wright Allen sided with Grimm last May , ruling that the policy “classified Mr. Grimm differently on the basis of his transgender status and, accordingly, subjected him to sex stereotyping.” The year before, the U.S. Supreme Court had decided not to hear the case. Attorneys from the nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) are asking the state of New York to stop singling out and punishing a Christian adoption agency because of its religious beliefs. In an interview, ADF attorney Jeana Hallock said at today’s hearing before Judge Mae A. D’Agostino, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York heard the appeal by New Hope Family Services for a preliminary injunction against the state of New York. According to Hallock, D’Agostino expects to issue a ruling soon on that request and also a request for dismissal issued by attorneys for New York. According to ADF, New York’s Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) is threatening to shut down New Hope Family Services because of the religious nonprofit’s policy of prioritizing the placement of children for adoption in homes with a married mother and father. Public opinion on whether business owners should be forced to participate in same-sex “weddings” has shifted significantly over the past year, a new survey reveals. Forty-six percent of Americans believe business owners such as  bakers ,  florists ,  caterers ,  invitation designers ,  photographers , and  venue hosts  should be allowed to refuse service and 48 percent do not, according to a  newly-released survey  by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI). In August 2017, just 41 percent sided with business owners and 53 percent favored coercion. While white Americans’ views on the subject remain largely unchanged, support for conscience rights rose most sharply among black Americans, 45 percent of whom answered that businesses should be allowed to refuse service (up from 36 percent last year). Only a minority of Hispanics agree, but there too the share rose from 26 percent to 34 percent. Republican support for the right to refuse rose by six points, while Democrat op
