Nicaragua strengthens laws defending traditional marriage, rejecting gay unions/adoption

Image
A sweeping redrafting of family law in Nicaragua 's Civil Code , dubbed the new Family Code, has reiterated that marriage is the “essential foundation of the family,” and that the natural family is the foundation and core for the continued development of the country. The Family Code was approved by the National Assembly of Nicaragua in June of 2014 and came into effect April 8th. The code stipulates that marriage is defined as the exclusive union of one man and one woman, states that only opposite-sex married couples , Nicaraguan or foreign, can adopt children, and bans same-sex couples from receiving fertility treatments to achieve pregnancy. “The new Family Code unifies in one body with its own guiding principles all the family laws. It repeals all laws that are in contradiction with its principles while conserving positive measures and adding new aspects," said National Assembly Deputy Carlos Emilio Lopez in a  Nicaragua News Bulletin  report. The Family Co

There’s a new established religion nowadays: Christians can’t bow to it

It's almost become a part of the weekly news cycle: American citizens publicly tarred and feathered for professing their sincerely held religious beliefs. Just this month, we watched a family-owned pizzeria close its doors after its owners received hate mail and death threats from around the country. Their offense? Giving the wrong answer to a question about whether they'd cater a gay wedding. Keep in mind that the restaurant had never actually turned down a gay customer. They were hammered for holding the wrong beliefs about a hypothetical scenario! Major corporations are getting into the bullying act, as well. At least two state governments have now backed down or modified religious freedom legislation in response to pressure from companies like Walmart and Salesforce. Keep that in mind next time you think about shopping at Walmart. And this culture-wide search-and-destroy mission is only accelerating. As Princeton's Robby George  writes in First Things , acti

Christians must go on the offensive against Gay Mafia

April 14, 2015 ( Crisis Magazine ) - The controversy about the Indiana religious liberty  statute is a textbook example of the increasing timidity of leading Republican politicians in the face of the homosexualist movement. It is an exposè of how they just can’t get past the politics of the moment—which they often poorly analyze—to see the civilizational questions that confront us in these times. Governor Mike Pence of Indiana quickly stepped back after supporting and signing the law as soon as the crescendo of criticism from the homosexualists and their media allies began and concerns about hurting the Indianapolis tourist trade were raised. After consulting with homosexualist organizations, he pushed through the state legislature a “clarification” of the law that supposedly would insure that it wouldn’t be used to “discriminate” against homosexuals. By doing that, the law was essentially gutted and the homosexualist organizations scored a major victory by securing specific

Gay agenda front and center as Hillary Clinton announces presidential campaign

WASHINGTON, D.C. , April 15, 2015 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) -- Hillary Clinton has released a  video  announcing her candidacy for U.S. president in which she compares her personal political ambition to big events in the lives of everyday Americans .  The video, called “Getting Started,” shows people getting ready to take on new challenges, from new spring gardens to new business opportunities to new parenthood.   Most of the scenarios featured are fairly universal – a mom moving house in search of a better school district for her child, a couple expecting their first baby, a woman getting ready to retire, a child preparing for his role in the school play.  But one common “life event” celebrated in the two-minute ad – marriage – seems calculated to appeal directly to a narrow but powerful constituency, the homosexual lobby, as the only engaged couple featured is a pair of gay men.  “I’m getting married this summer to someone I really care about,” says a man’s voice, as two men wal

Libraries fight parents over gay penguin children’s book

April 15, 2015 ( NewsBusters.org ) -- Not comfortable with your first grader learning about familial structures from gay flightless aquatic birds? Maybe it’s time to check-out of the library.  On April 12, the American Library Association’s 2015  State of America’s Libraries Report  listed the “Top Ten Most Challenged Books in 2014.” A gay penguin children’s book entitled  And Tango Makes Three  by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell made third  place  on the list. While the ALA argues for “diverse” content, parents questioned the “ homosexual agenda ” in it and critics called out the ALA’s credibility.  Recommended for children ages 4—8, the book tells the “heartwarming true story of two penguins who create a nontraditional family” at Central Park Zoo. Although Roy and Silo were “different,” the description  reads , “their desire for a family was the same.”  After the two try to hatch a stone, the zookeeper presents them a penguin couple’s second egg. The two males th

Malta’s gay-activist priest ‘blesses’ rings for same-sex ceremony, gets a pass from archbishop

VALLETTA, Malta , April 15, 2015 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Following a public scandal in Malta in which a priest “blessed” the rings of two homosexual men who were undertaking a civil unions ceremony, the newly appointed leader of the Maltese Catholic Church has encouraged the priest to continue his “pastoral outreach” to active homosexuals. Far from a reprimand, Dominican priest Mark Montebello was told by Archbishop Charles Scicluna to continue his “outreach” to active homosexuals. The  Malta Independent  reported that Archbishop Scicluna had called an “urgent” meeting with the priest and there was expectation that he would be ordered to clarify the ring blessing. Archbishop Scicluna, however, has not stepped up to defend Catholic teaching, but in comments on the national broadcaster RTK, said only that the ritual of the blessing of rings in engagement and wedding ceremonies were reserved for couples formed by a man and a woman. He added that he had encouraged Fr. Montebel

Pope Francis blasts ‘gender theory’ again: rejecting sexual difference is ‘a step backwards’

Image
ROME , April 15, 2015 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – In his catechesis today, Pope Francis strongly refuted the foundational tenets of “ gender theory ” that forms the basis of radical feminism as well as the homosexualist political movement. The differences between men and women are not a matter of “subordination” as feminist and gender theory would have it, but of “communion and generation,” he said in his weekly General Audience at the Vatican .  The pope wondered aloud “if so-called gender theory is not an expression of frustration and resignation, that aims to cancel out sexual difference as it is no longer able to face it. Yes, we run the risk of taking a step backwards. Indeed, the removal of difference is the problem, not the solution.” He asked whether the current global crisis of faith, of belief in God and Christian teaching, “that is so harmful to us,” and that builds “incredulity and cynicism,” could be “connected to the crisis in the alliance between man and woman
