A UK High Court judge ruled today that it was “unlawful” for police to investigate a man for writing tweets critical of men who say they’re ‘women’ and to record it as a “hate incident.” Mr. Justice Julian Knowles stated that for a member of Humberside Police to go to the workplace of Harry Miller and upbraid him for his political opinions was a “disproportionate interference" with Miller’s freedom of expression.  Last January,  Humberside police officers went to Miller’s business to investigate a third-party complaint that Miller had posted “transphobic” tweets. Miller had retweeted a poem that poked at transgenderism which allegedly included the lines, “Your breasts are made of silicone, your vagina goes nowhere.” Miller had also written in a tweet: “I was assigned mammal at birth, but my orientation is fish. Progressives in the United Kingdom are learning the first of what may be a series of uncomfortable lessons: Not all of the immigrants they champion share their values.  In Birmingham, The Guardian reported this week, a programme to teach British primary school children about LGBT issues at Parkfield community school was shut down after 600 students were withdrawn by parents angry that their children were being “brainwashed” by lessons that were undermining their parental rights and “aggressively promoting homosexuality.”  The vast majority of the parents were Muslim, although the school refused to confirm the precise number of children that were pulled. Much of their ideology is simply too radical for ordinary men and women to accept, and as such trans activists have relied on the institutions where they have accrued power—progressive political parties, academia, and the media—to push and enforce their agenda. But despite this, their ideas have not actually gained as much traction in the broader population as their cultural clout might suggest. A prominent expert in children’s health is challenging a study that claims to demonstrate that reinforcing children’s gender confusion is best for their mental health. Last week, the Journal of Adolescent Health published a  study  by University of Texas researchers finding that for  “ transgender youth who choose a name different from the one given at birth, use of their chosen name in multiple contexts affirms their gender identity and reduces mental health risks known to be high in this group.” According to  University of Texas News, the researchers interviewed 129 transgendered people between the ages of 15 and 21. The interview subjects were found in one northeastern U.S. city, one southwestern city, and one west coast city. After asking whether the respondents were able to use their chosen names at school, home, work, and among friends, researchers say they found 71% fewer symptoms of severe depression among those who were able, 34% fewer reported thoughts of suicid

A group of over 500 Catholic priests and deacons in Great Britain are saying the advance of ‘gender ideology ’ has become “impossible to ignore,” and they wish to give guidance to clergy and laity on how to respond to it. “As Catholic priests and deacons we commit ourselves to proclaiming Catholic teaching in this area and to ministering with pastoral charity to those most effected,” they said. In a statement issued on Thursday, the British Confraternity of Catholic Clergy said that “increasingly” they are meeting individuals in their parishes who are “unable to accept the sex in which they were born” and often believe they “must ‘change’ their sex in order to find happiness.” Those who suggest they cannot change their sex are “immediately met with charges of hatred and bigotry,” they observed.
