We have a responsibility to “hold fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching” so as “to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict” (Titus 1:9).  While it is possible that some may view the Bible's position on homosexuality as inflammatory, unloving, or even unchristian, the opposite is actually the case. In accordance with Titus 1:9, exhortation with the truth (sound doctrine) and the refutation of that which is false is a nonnegotiable duty for the Christian minister .  Christian ministers must instruct and refute. Our culture is inundated—in print and on screen—with the idea that homosexuality is a normal, proper, and healthy expression of “love” between persons. This view has successfully infiltrated our TV sitcoms, magazines, bookstores, and coffee shops, but now we are being told that homosexuality—in either orientation or act—is something approved by God and therefore consistent with biblical morality. Every year, Des and Rex go to the restaurant where they had their homosexual encounter.. Like some homosexual men , they want to get married. They've already written their vows. The vows do not reflect the required statement of Australian law namely, the relationship is exclusive between a man and a woman for life. They have to reword it all to include romance and commitment. But unlike most couples, Des and Rex will have to keep waiting. The people pushing this corrupted version of sexuality have painted a rather compelling picture of the goal they say they’re after. They want a society where everybody just happily gets along no matter what people are doing to one another in the sexual sphere .  They’re after a sexual utopia where anything goes. They want inclusion, diversity, acceptance, and safe schools. But there’s one problem they’ve encountered. To get to this sexual utopia, they first have to stamp out every voice that has a version of sexuality that opposes the one they’re championing . The body of Christ worldwide is challenged to respond to the issue of homosexuality. While the acceptance of homosexuality has accelerated faster in some nations than in others, the fact remains that Christians in all countries face the challenge of responding with love and truth to all those who struggle in this area. While damage has undoubtedly been done by the watering down of the gospel, immeasurable damage has also been done when truth has been preached in word only without corresponding actions, or has been spoken without love. Remembering that God is both grace and truth will help us to conduct ourselves as Jesus would: compassionately without compromising God word. The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin ( Genesis 19:1-13 ; Leviticus 18:22 ; 20:13 ; Romans 1:26-27 ; 1 Corinthians 6:9 ). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God. God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin ( Romans 1:24-27 ) and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins.
