Fifty-four pro- LGBT activists were arrested protesting North Carolina ’s bathroom privacy law on Monday as the North Carolina legislature began its session. Following a rally outside the state capitol, protestors held sit-ins at state legislators’ offices and then stayed in the building rallying past the end of the day’s legislative session. The passage of House Bill 2 and Governor Pat McCrory ’s subsequent signing of it into law has generated fury from LGBT activists and the left. Local news stations and the Associated Press captured some of the protestors’ actions, which included being carried by police out of the state capitol in plastic handcuffs, shouting, and loudly chanting.  The protestors will be   charged   with second-degree trespassing and one will be charged with resisting arrest, according to Acting General Assembly Police Chief Martin Brock.  They will also be cited for violating building rules or the fire code. Over 30 Qld schools have opted in to use the resources, including 5 primary schools and 7 P-12 schools , despite our Education Minister assuring the Parliament that the resources would only be made available to secondary schools . I have commenced a Qld Parliament petition – not calling for the program to be scrapped – but for an inquiry into the appropriateness of the materials and for the Qld schools who are using the resources to be made public as in other states, so that parents can know what their children will be being taught. Boston ’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will allow a homosexual group to march in the 2015 event for the first time in the parade’s 100-plus year history. The parade’s organizers, the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council, voted 5-4 on December 15 to allow the group OutVets to join the parade next March 15. The council had previously withstood the push to allow homosexual groups, even prevailing in a 1995 U.S. Supreme Court decision protecting its right to refuse groups promoting homosexuality.
