A violent campaign by homosexuals against Christian groups planning to meet on the homosexual marriage plebiscite has forced several Christian groups to cancel the event at a major hotel, amid claims of physical threats from homosexual marriage advocates. Their vilent threats were real.  The Accor Hotels group confirmed late yesterday that the function had been abandoned after a social media storm triggered phone calls that “rattled” employees and left the company concerned about the safety of staff and guests. In the first test of the “civil” debate promised for a plebiscite on gay marriage , advocates for the “yes” case were being blamed last night for the kind of “hate speech” that Bill Shorten and others have claimed would come from the “no” case. A printer has reportedly pulled out from publishing a book on same sex marriage written by a Toowoomba doctor because of its controversial subject matter. Television host Andrew Bolt , speaking on Sky News , said the printer had previously agreed to print the book, which argues against homosexual marriage . The book, named "Stealing From a Child: The Injustice of Marriage Equality" was written by Dr David van Gend and is due to be officially launched at a function in Brisbane tonight. groups are planning to protest the book, arguing it is inflammatory and denigrates gay people. The book has the support of the Australian Marriage Forum, of which Dr van Gend is president, and former Toowoomba councillor Lyle Shelton from the Australian Christian Lobby . The charity watchdog will issue fresh guidelines to not-for-profit groups campaigning on either side of the government's proposed same-sex marriage plebiscite to ensure they do not breach the sector's political rules. Several of the most outspoken organisations expected to spearhead the "yes" and "no" campaigns are registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission . Registered charities that enter the political fray are bound by a set of guidelines, including a ban on endorsing any one candidate or party for public office. The rules prevented groups such as Australian Marriage Equality and the Australian Christian Lobby from backing pro and anti-same-sex marriage candidates, respectively, at the July 2 federal election.
