California elementary schools to use pro-LGBT history textbooks

Image
Children in California will be learning to identify historical personages by their sexuality. The Advocate   reported  that the California state board of education approved “10 LGBT-inclusive history textbooks” for elementary school students in grades K-8 last week. It also rejected two textbooks on the grounds that they did not include “ LGBT history .” The exclusion of LGBT history violates California’s FAIR Education Act. The FAIR Education Act,  once informally called the LGBT History Bill, was written by Senator Mark Leno . FAIR stands for “Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful.” It ensures that the political, economic and social contributions of people with disabilities as well as those people identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender are included in textbooks of California’s state-funded schools. It also added sexual orientation and religion to a list of characteristics that California schools already could not present in a negative way. In 2008, Ma

Jerry Brown . "May this brash attack upon children's innocence finally motivate parents to remove their children from the government school system, and get them into the safe havens of church schooling and homeschooling," said Randy Thomasson, president of  SaveCalifornia.com,  a leading statewide pro-family organization promoting moral virtues for the common good. Thomasson outlined how the new law effectively will require textbooks and instructional materials to positively promote "lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans" as role models.  It also will provide for teaching children as young as 6 years old to admire homosexuality, same-sex "marriages,

California referendum launched to halt mandatory ‘gay history’ law

Image via Wikipedia Conservative leaders in California are gathering support for a referendum to block the state’s new law that mandates that history curricula highlight homosexual figures, and that forbids any teaching that reflects negatively upon homosexuality. Governor Jerry Brown this month signed SB 48, which mandates an emphasis on “ lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ” role models in K-12 history and social science textbooks .  Because California constitutes a large share of the national textbook market, the mandate, although unique to California, would likely cause the printing and distribution of “ gay-friendly ” textbooks for consumption across America . In response, the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) with several other pro-family organizations quickly launched a referendum for a SB 48 repeal. Papers have been filed with the California Attorney General ’s Office, where officials will craft an official title and summary. Once a title and summary are received f

California passes bill mandating pro-gay teaching in schools, no parent opt-out

Image via Wikipedia A bill requiring public schools to teach the “historical contributions” of homosexual Americans was approved by the California legislature on Tuesday, July 5.  The bill also prohibits any school material or instruction that reflects adversely on homosexuality, bisexuality or transgenderism, and prohibits parents from removing children from classes over offensive material. Bill SB 48 was sponsored by openly homosexual state senator Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) and passed in the Democrat-controlled Assembly by 49-25, with all Democrats voting for the bill and Republicans opposing it. The legislation passed the state Senate in April. If signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown , schools would have to introduce the homosexual curriculum after the bill becomes law in January. “This bill will require California schools to present a more accurate and nuanced view of American history in our social science curriculum by recognizing the accomplishments of groups that are no

SB 48, The Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful Education Act, was introduced by openly homosexual state Senator Mark Leno and passed by the Senate in April. It was passed by the Assembly Education Committee in a party line vote and now awaits a floor vote in the Assembly. Democrats currently maintain a strong majority in the lower house of the California legislature, holding 52 of 80 seats.  If the bill is passed by the Assembly, it will go to the desk of Democratic Governor Jerry Brown for signature. A similar bill was vetoed in 2006 by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger . If passed, the bill would require a politically correct overhaul of social science curriculum in California schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. It mandates propo

California Schools caught in Leno's homosexual trap

Image via Wikipedia A bill that would require California public schools to revise their social science curricula to incorporate study of the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans was passed by the California Senate Education Committee last Wednesday. The bill, SB 48, was introduced by openly homosexual state Senator Mark Leno . It passed the ten member Education Committee by a vote of 6 to 3 with one abstaining, and has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee , where it will be considered in early April. If passed, the law would affect the curriculum for students as early as kindergarten. It contains no provision allowing parents to exclude their children or for teachers to opt out of teaching the new material. Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a similar bill in 2006. If SB 48 is passed by the Legislature, however, it is expected that current Democratic Governor Jerry Brown will sign it into law.Supporters of the bill argu
