Is homosexual orientation the same as race or ethnicity - like a human right?

Is the homosexual orientation / gay marriage debate the same as the African American revolution of the 1960's? Christians must engage carefully in the task of biblical theology. The diversity of races and ethnicities comprises part of God's plan (see, for example, the table of nations in Genesis 10). The Bible also indicates that God is pleased that his human creatures are organized by families, clans, languages, and nations. Furthermore, Revelation 5 indicates that this pleasure is an eternal pleasure for God. Those gathered around the Lamb's throne are men and women from every tongue, tribe, and nation who have all been ransomed by Christ. Thus, Scripture celebrates racial differences. The Bible celebrates these distinctions as part of God's glorious diversity in creation. The Bible, however, unquestionably expresses only one legitimate pattern of human sexuality. Only one framework exists in which conjugal acts can be enjoyed and celebrated-the monogamous, f

California petition drive to repeal transgender ‘bathroom’ bill just misses goal

SACRAMENTO , February 25, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A California petition drive seeking to put the state’s controversial new ‘choose your own gender’ law on the ballot for possible repeal by voters has failed after the secretary of state determined the referendum’s organizers did not get enough valid signatures to force a public vote. The petition needed 504,760 signatures in order to force a referendum.  Organizers with Privacy for All Students collected over 600,000, but the state threw out 131,857, claiming they were invalid.  The remaining 487,484 signatures fell just 17,276 short of the required goal. But supporters of the referendum say they’re not giving up that easily.  Privacy for All Students co-chairs Gina Gleason and Karen England vowed to insist on a careful review of the rejected signatures, especially in San Diego and San Bernardino Counties, where county officials each threw out 14,000 and 13,000 signatures, respectively.  “I don’t believe all of those

Public Opinion on Same-Sex Marriage: It's All in How You Ask

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) recently released results from a poll suggesting that a majority of Americans believe in traditional marriage .  The poll  found 62 percent of Americans believe that “marriage should be defined  only as a union between one man and one woman.” The poll results seem to run counter to other recent polls showing a majority of Americans support same-sex marriage, but like all polling, the results depend on how the question is asked. What makes the ADF poll unique is that it is the first to ask a question that borrows the same language often used in ballot initiatives. One explanation given for this difference has been to  question the poll's sponsorship .  The ADF’s lawyers are the key defenders of Proposition 8 , which effectively bars same-sex marriage in California . The poll was conducted by Polling Opinion Strategies, a research firm often works  with Republican candidates. The sponsorship may explain why the poll was conducted, but the method
