Liberals who promote SSM - now claim Christian parents are dangerous.

Image
Over the past two decades, it has slowly dawned on Christians that the implications of same-sex “marriage” are far greater for those who still believe in the traditional understanding of marriage than even the cynics first thought possible. The politicians, the academics, and the media have reached the collective conclusion that if gay “marriage” is a civil right, those who oppose it are not simply dissenters holding to a two-thousand-year-old tradition, but ugly bigots who deserve to be marginalized for their discriminatory views.  THOUGHT CRIMES Thus, “live and let live” turned into “you will be forced to participate and approve,” with bakers, florists, property owners, and adoption agencies finding themselves to be the targets of gay activists who show a shocking ruthlessness in their enthusiasm for prosecuting supposed thought crimes. None of this will be news to most of you, but the impact of radical reinvention of our social structures is beginning to impact Christian

Alberta gvmt delays bill removing parental right to protect kids from gay lessons after liberals complain it doesn’t go far enough

Some schools have gay–straight alliances or similar groups to counter homophobia and bullying and provide support for LGBT students in school. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Alberta Premier Jim Prentice has put a controversial bill dealing with gay clubs in schools on hold, because of opposition within his own caucus. The opposition is coming, reportedly, from small-“l” liberals who think the bill doesn’t go far enough to protect homosexual students from bullying, and not from Christians or social conservatives who believe the bill goes  too  far, in particular by removing parents’ right to withdraw their children from classes dealing with homosexuality. "We will pull back. We will pause," Prentice told reporters yesterday afternoon. While he was away all week a debate raged in the province over his bill. Alberta Christian parents will be spared for another day being stripped of their fundamental right to educate their children in their beliefs in their own schools.

Alberta bill aims to force schools to accept gay clubs

Just seven months after the Alberta legislature defeated amendments to the new Education Act that would have forced all Alberta schools to establish gay-straight alliance clubs, ostensibly to combat bullying, Liberal opposition MLA Laurie Blakeman has brought them back. Since then there has been a provincial election that weakened the province’s social conservatives, a scandal that brought down a premier, and a bevy of turmoil within the opposition Wildrose Party . So Blakeman may feel the bill has a better chance, as well as want to make mischief with both the Wildrose and the governing Progressive Conservatives . “I think in the end everyone will pass the test,” she said, meaning all MLAs will support measures most opposed earlier this year. “I think the bill will pass, but it’s a lot of my explaining between here and there to make sure that happens.” Bill 202, the Safe and Inclusive Schools Act, is backed by the two tiny Liberal and New Democratic caucuses, while the P

Alberta premier resigns amidst spending scandals

Image
EDMONTON, Alberta , March 20, 2014  – Amidst spending scandals and a caucus revolt centering on her leadership, Alison Redford announced last night that she is stepping down as Alberta premier effective Sunday. Redford is a strong advocate of legal abortion and same-sex “marriage.” Premier Alison Redford at the 2013 Gay Pride Parade During the 2012 election campaign, she came out strongly against conscience rights for doctors, arguing that doctors should be forced to commit abortions and prescribe contraception even if it goes against their beliefs. She said it was a question of “diversity.” “I certainly respect people’s personal beliefs, but I believe in a province where we have to treat individuals with dignity and respect. We have to live in a community where we respect diversity and we understand that everyone feels safe and included,” she explained. She set a precedent for provincial government leaders in 2012 when she became the first Alberta premier to accept an

Kangaroo Court Human right Judge orders Catholic school board to face tribunal over firing of transgender teacher

EDMONTON, Alberta, January 13, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – An Alberta judge has ruled that a Catholic school board face a hearing at the province’s human rights tribunal over its decision to remove a transgender activist from its list of substitute teachers. The case tests the right of Catholic schools to hire and teach according to their denominational beliefs, which are protected in the Constitution Act 1867 . Janet Buterman now goes by "Jan" and dresses as a man. In 2009, Janet Buterman, 39 at the time,  filed  a human rights complaint against the Greater St. Albert Catholic School Board after she said the board discriminated against her on the grounds of gender and physical disability — what  court documents  referred to as gender identity disorder — by removing her from the list. She was not a contracted employee. The board defended its move at the time in a letter to Buterman, stating: “In discussions with the Archbishop of the Edmonton Diocese, the teach

Parents support 11-year-old gender confused daughter to go back to school as a boy

EDMONTON, Alberta, September 3, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - An 11-year-old girl is going back to school this week in the persona of a boy with the help of her parents and a homosexual activist from the University of Alberta. When Wrenna Kauffman, who now calls herself Wren, began showing signs of gender confusion, her parents contacted  Kristopher Wells , a homosexual activist from the University of Alberta's Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, who advised them that their daughter should be allowed to start living life at home as a boy.  Wrenna's parents allowed her to be interviewed by  CTV News , where she said she always wanted to be a boy and that her body caused her to feel "like you're trapped inside someone else's body that you don't want to be in."  According to a  Canadian Press  report, Wells told the parents that "more students these days are not just coming out in school as gay but also as transgender or trans

What next? University of Alberta creates ‘all-gender’ restrooms for transgender students

Image
EDMONTON, Alberta, August 29, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Although the University of Alberta already has unisex restrooms on campus, the university has agreed to create "all-gender washrooms " for transgender students. “We see a lot of people on our campus who may be trans- or gender non-conforming who do have issues with the washrooms because they are forced to act on this [sexual] binary," said Melanie Alexander of the school's "Gender-Based Violence Prevention Project," according to a  CBC report . "It’s this really vulnerable place to be when you don’t feel like you have places that reflect your gender expression ,” she added. The school has replaced the signs on all single-toilet washrooms, such as those that are wheelchair accessible, with ones that show both male and female figures in addition to a wheelchair. The university will also be providing a map of the "all-gender" washrooms to students when they return to school ne

Alberta School Boards Association rejects ‘sexual orientation’ policy

Image
EDMONTON, Alberta , 23 November, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Alberta parents who support traditional values are breathing a sigh of relief after the Alberta School Boards Association ( ASBA ) rejected a proposal calling for policies to deal with an alleged “pervasive school-wide culture of homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism”. Sixty-two percent of the boards voted to reject the proposal at the ASBA fall meeting held on Monday. The motion would have added language specifically singling out gay , lesbian, bi-sexual , and transgender students to an already existing anti-bullying policy. Jacquie Hansen, president of the Alberta School Boards Association, said that the majority of trustees rejected the policy over concerns that it unnecessarily focused on a certain group of students. “The feeling in the room was we’d rather have a policy for all kids and that bullying shouldn’t be tolerated no matter who you are or what you have to deal with in your world.” She called m

Alberta trustee under fire for suggesting gay teens should be less open

Image
EDMONTON, Alberta , 23 November, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – An Alberta school trustee has come under attack in the media after suggesting that “it would be helpful” if students who self-identify as homosexual were less overt about their sexual orientation. “If children with a gay tendency appear a certain way, we know that we have to be vigilant to make sure they are not discriminated against,” Dale Schaffrick, who is the trustee for Pembina Hills Regional School Division and a farmer, told CBC News . Dale Schaffrick When asked if such students should be “less identifiable,” in the words of CBC, Schaffrick  reportedly responded  that “for their own benefit… it would be helpful.” The trustee had made similar remarks during a debate over an “anti-homophobia” proposal at the Alberta School Boards Association on Monday. The policy was rejected over concerns that it unnecessarily singled out homosexual students for protection, instead of protecting all students equally. E
