Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary … with stamp honoring homosexaul ‘marriage’?
Canada Post is releasing a “gay marriage” stamp as part of Canada ’s 150th anniversary celebrations. The stamp is in the shape of a Maple Leaf with a rainbow flag and marks the 2005 Civil Marriage Act , passed under Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin . Canada Post’s website describes the event: On July 20, 2005, Canada became the fourth country in the world to pass federal legislation that gave all citizens the right to marry the one they love. The stamp depicts a section of a rainbow flag, which is a familiar symbol of pride for the LGBTQ2S (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Two Spirit) community. Such economy of words, so many lies packed into one phrase: “the right to marry the one they love.” The stamp is the fourth of a series of 10 that supposedly commemorate key moments in Canada’s history since in 1867.
