Catholic school parts ways with gay ‘married’ teacher, follows archbishop’s directives

Image
Just days after Brebeuf Jesuit High School  defied Archbishop Charles Thompson’s  decree stripping its Catholic identity, another Catholic high school in Indianapolis has acknowledged his authority and will “separate” from a teacher in a fake marriage or homosexual “marriage.” On Sunday, Cathedral High School announced that it would part ways with a teacher in a “public, same-sex marriage” out of concern that defying Archbishop Thompson’s decree could cost its nonprofit status and having Masses celebrated on campus.  A letter from the school’s board of directors  said its “agonizing decision” came after nearly two years of “earnest discussion and extensive dialogue with the Archdiocese” about the school’s “continued Catholic identity.” Noting that Archbishop Thompson has “responsibility to oversee faith and morals as related to Catholic identity,” the letter said he made it clear that keeping a teacher who is in a “public, same-sex marriage” would mean losing the school’s Catho

Archbishop strips Jesuit school of ‘Catholic’ label for refusing to let go gay ‘married’ teacher

Image
An Indiana archbishop has stripped a Jesuit-run school of its Catholic label after the school refused the archbishop’s directive that it not renew a teacher’s contract who had ‘married’ a same-sex partner.  Two summers ago, a teacher from Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School “married” a same-sex partner. The fact became publicly known via social media. The Archdiocese of Indianapolis, led by Archbishop Charles Thompson, requested around the same time that the school not renew the teacher’s contract because the teacher’s lifestyle contradicted Catholic sexual and moral teaching.  The school refused to follow the directive.  Because of this, Archbishop Thompson issued a decree on June 20 that he no longer recognizes Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School as a Catholic institution. “The Catholic Church teaches that Catholic schools are integral to the mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ and to be places of learning where students encounter the living Christ

University prohibits ‘microaggressions’ against homosexuals and transsexuals

Image
Jesuit-run Georgetown University has instituted a policy allowing people to make anonymous tips against anyone they regard as having said something insensitive to their minority status, an offense known as a “microaggression.” The policy includes “microaggressions” against people based on their “sexual orientation” or “gender identity or expression,” making a possible target of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others who reject LGBT ideology. The policy is being implemented by Georgetown’s medical school, whose “Office of Diversity and Inclusion” has posted a page entitled “What To Do About Microaggressions” on its website, and has initiated a propaganda campaign for the policy using posters placed on campus. The definition of a “microaggression” given by Georgetown is so vague and general that it appears that virtually any behavior or even circumstances in the environment might be interpreted as constituting the offense. Pro-gay chaplain rescinds resignation after being booted by Paul Ryan

Image
Father Patrick Conroy , a pro-gay Jesuit priest serving as chaplain for the U.S. House of Representatives , has rescinded his resignation a week after outgoing Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan, R-WI , requested it. Last week, Conroy stepped down after Ryan, a Catholic, allegedly told him he would be dismissed unless he left voluntarily. However, in a letter to Ryan dated May 3, Conroy retracted that resignation “upon advice of counsel.” The letter accuses Ryan of not giving him a reason for his firing, but claims Ryan chief of staff Jonathon Burks “mentioned dismissively something like, 'maybe it's time that we had a Chaplain that wasn't a Catholic,’” as well as mentioning a House prayer and interview some criticized as overly political. Conroy has previously said Ryan told him, “you just got to stay out of politics." House Republicans say that Ryan assured them the prayer wasn’t a factor, but rather that some had approached him with concern “that their past

Rebellious Priest says the sin of homosexuality no longer a sin - God disagrees

The Bible ’s condemnation of homosexual acts should be taken in “context” with Biblical times, Jesuit Father James Martin  told   Georgetown University students recently. Martin said as well that Catholics who support gay “marriage” should have no problem considering themselves Catholic, despite having chosen to reject Church teaching. Martin inferred at his January 31  appearance  at the Jesuit school that the Bible’s negative pronouncements on homosexual acts – which are grounded in natural law – are like other Biblical declarations on topics such as the practice of charging interest on a loan. These pronouncements being made during a particular epoch renders them applicable in that given historical context, he said. Catholics should be invited to “understand the Bible,” he said, and to understand the Bible’s tradition of condemning homosexual acts “within the context of history.” A young woman had asked  Martin  how, given the repeated negative scriptural treatment

Pro-gay Vatican activist priest: Catechism teaching on homosexuality ‘needs to be updated’

Image
The Jesuit priest recently  given an influential Vatican post  thinks the Church’s language in regard to homosexual acts needs to be changed. Father James Martin , editor-at-large of the Jesuit-run  America  magazine, said the Catechism of the Catholic Church ’s use of the term intrinsically disordered in regard to homosexual acts is “needlessly hurtful.” He offered “differently ordered”  as preferable, because it could express the concept “more pastorally.” Asked whether he affirmed and agreed with the Catechism’s “teaching or language” that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered, Father Martin replied that he is not a theologian, but he “would say  some of the language used in the Catechism on that topic needs to be updated, given what we know now about homosexuality.” His response did not clarify what understanding of homosexuality he referred to, or when or how it came about. Father Martin  is a prolific public supporter of LGBT issues who is very vocal on soc
