APA researcher explodes myth: Gays aren’t ‘born that way’

Image
A top researcher with the American Psychological Association (APA) and lesbian activist has acknowledged that gays are not "born that way." Dr. Lisa Diamond, co-editor-in-chief of the APA Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology and one of the APA’s “most respected members," says sexual orientation is "fluid" and not unchangeable. As clinical psychologist Dr. Laura A. Haynes  summarizes  Diamond's APA Handbook chapters, her book and YouTube lectures, "The battle to disprove 'Born that way and can’t change’ is now over, and (Diamond) is telling LGBT activists to stop promoting the myth." Contrary to the typical argument that homosexuals are "born gay" as "who they are" and cannot change, the APA officially recognized sexual orientation change in 2011. Diamond summarized relevant findings in a lecture at Cornell University (2013), stating that abundant research has now established that sexual orientation — in

Mr Gay China - what's next?

Image
In a smoky, strobe-lit nightclub in south Shanghai, Meng Fanyu strides out on stage wearing a theatrical get-up of top hat, bow tie and black eyeliner. He strips down to just black underwear and suspenders to the rousing soundtrack of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good. Sexual immorality and rules.  This is the final in the Mr Gay   China   competition, a franchise from the international pageant Mr Gay World. It needs to be renamed Mr Sin Offence against God competition. Parading to be cool, modern and slick it is simply sin seeking to promote itself. “Something like this event is a  platform to raise awareness of the sinfulness of the LGBT community.” Many people don’t really know what LGBT is, but they recognize immorality easy enough.  “It’s very hard to do this in China,” says one candidate. Another adds: “I will never tell my parents that I’m gay. I’m their whole life – I don’t want to let them down.” The inability to inform parents shows the evidence of sin and sham

People must ‘resist all attempts to normalize homosexual behavior’: Filipino bishops

Image
The Philippines ’ Catholic bishops conference has called on the faithful and especially political leaders to oppose same-sex unions in the wake of LGBT agitation sparked by the U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex “ marriage ” in the U.S. “ Catholics are called to resist all attempts to normalize homosexual behavior and homosexual unions in their culture,” declared the August 28 letter, titled “A Pastoral Response to the Acceptance of Homosexual Lifestyle and the Legalization of Homosexual Unions.” The letter called on Catholic politicians especially “to oppose the legal recognition of homosexual unions in a particularly vigorous way.” The bishops were careful to urge Catholics “to be charitable to every single homosexual person they know,” but especially those in their own family, thereby emphasizing the superiority of Christian love over the transitoriness of sexual affection. “In particular, families with members who struggle with homosexuality are called

Australian gender theorist: Transgenderism is ‘hugely harmful’...because it’s not radical enough

Image
Australia, April 30, 2014 – A radical feminist gender theorist is making the case that  transgenderism  is a “hugely harmful phenomenon” – but not for the reasons you might expect. The American Psychiatric Association   classifies  gender dysphoria – defined as “a marked incongruence between one’s experienced/expressed gender and assigned gender” – as a mental illness , and  studies show  41 percent of people who suffer from it will attempt suicide at some point in their lives. Many people who suffer from the disorder have their bodies mutilated by surgeons in an attempt to look more like the opposite sex, and  substance abuse  and  risky behaviors  are rampant. Sheila Jeffreys However, in her new book  Gender Hurts , Sheila Jeffreys, a professor of sexual politics at the University of Melbourne , argues that transgenderism is damaging not because it is a devastating mental illness – although she admits the condition “is invariably born of severe psychological distress” – bu
