One of the battles the homosexuals and lesbians have waged in their attempt to get homosexuality accepted in the culture is the war of words.  The terms " homophobe ," "homophobic," "homophobia," are often used to describe anyone who disagrees with homosexuality.   Generally speaking, if they can get us to react to their words on their terms, much of the battle is already won by them.  Such is the case with accusing anyone who disapproves of homosexuality as being homophobic.  The intent is to use a term that has a negative emotional connotation and use it in such a way as to accuse the guilty party of unwarranted prejudice and discrimination.   It is, ultimately, a disingenuous way of dealing with the issue.   Generally speaking, when such tactics are used it is because the intellectual arguments in support of it are not that strong. We need to write about homosexuality because it is addressed in the  Bible , it is a moral issue, and it affects society.  Therefore, it also affects religious and social institutions.  As the influence of homosexuality increases, it will continue to invade our churches, our homes, our families, and affect change around us.  Therefore, we need to have rational and biblical defences for the Christian position as well as an examination of the problems that homosexuality brings. The Bible clearly condemns homosexuality as a  sin,  and Christians who seriously follow God 's Word must also condemn it as sin.  Consider these words: Lev. 18:22 , "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Lev. 20:13 , "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. The California State Assembly is slated to vote on legislation that has been interpreted as broad enough to ban the sale of books that address helping people overcome unwanted same-sex attractions. AB 2943  adds “[a]dvertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual” to the state’s list of illegal “unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices undertaken by any person in a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer.” “ Sexual orientation change efforts ” are defined as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation.” The bill makes no exceptions for adults who actively seek such efforts, or minors whose parents have given their consent. The High Court has dismissed an appeal by a homosexual zealot seeking to sue a former Katter party candidate over homophobic comments. In 2016, Garry Burns was found to have no standing to pursue the matter in NSW Supreme Court because the alleged perpetrator was not an NSW resident. The candidate for Wannon , Tess Corbett, told Victorian newspaper, the Hamilton Spectator, in 2013 she did not want "gays, lesbians or paedophiles working in my kindergarten" and associated homosexuals with paedophiles. "Pedophiles will be next in line to be recognised in the same way as gays and lesbians, and get rights," Ms Corbett was quoted as saying and she is completely correct. Queensland Senate candidate Bernard Gaynor later endorsed Ms Corbett's statements and was suspended from the Katter's Australian Party . The June 12, 2016, Pulse nightclub shooting is, among other things, a searing indictment of the national press’ eagerness to believe the absolute worst about the Right and about Christians in particular. It was casually assumed that the gunman, Omar Mateen , targeted Pulse specifically because it was a gay bar. In a brazen assault on our most fundamental freedoms, California legislators are considering a bill that would make it illegal for anyone to receive professional help to resolve unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion . This would apply to people of all ages. People of all religious and moral convictions. It is an absolute outrage, and it must be opposed vigorously. For the last few years, a growing number of states and cities have embraced legislation making it illegal for  minors  struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion to receive professional help, even with the full support of their parents. This would apply to a 14-year-old girl who was raped by her uncle at the age of 8 and now feels repulsion from men and attraction toward women. If her parents stood with her and she wanted to meet with a trained counselor to get to the root of her attractions, in some states, that would be illegal.
