LONDON , February 18, 2014  – In a surprise move, the main governing body of the Church of England has rejected proposals to create a “blessing” ceremony for same-sex “weddings.”  In a  guidance  issued Saturday on same-sex “marriage,” the House of Bishops also said it “is not willing for those who are in a same sex marriage to be ordained to any of the three orders of ministry.”  “Services of blessing should not be provided. Clergy should respond pastorally and sensitively in other ways,” the guidance reads. He said (in an  interview  in the Telegraph this weekend): “Marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman ... I don’t think it is the role of the state to define what marriage is.
