Married Lesbian Ordained as Methodist Bishop - 'Led by the Holy Spirit' –fulfils blasphemy of the HS

Image
The Western Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church consecrated a married lesbian bishop in a move that could split the denomination. Greater Northwest Episcopal Area Bishop Grant Hagiya claims the Holy Spirit led the move that the church bylaws expressly forbid - this fulfills the requirement of blasphemy "We understand there may be some political implications, but in our mind this was the best person. It was not a question of (sexual) orientation, it was a question of who was the best spiritual leader. The body spoke and said 'Yes, this is the one.' " Hagiya said . Yet the denomination's Book of Discipline cites "self-avowed practicing homosexuals are not to be certified as candidates, ordained as ministers, or appointed to serve in The United Methodist Church." "The Wesleyan Covenant Association (a group of evangelical and conservative pastors) is meeting in Chicago in the fall to decide the future and if they'll form a brand-new

Where do we belong? An ex-gay Catholic reflects on the Orlando massacre

When I walked into the Castro District of San Francisco in 1988, I could not have picked a worse time in history to come-out as a “gay” man. It was the height of the AIDS crisis. That year alone, over 4,800, mostly “gay” men, died of AIDS in the US. The following year, the number of deaths would triple. Far into the next decade, my seemingly exuberant life became constantly interrupted as I was forced to stand by when one after another beautiful and once boundlessly hopeful young man fell silently into the grave. Some of these dead boys I knew well, others were but among the countless shadows that brushed against me in the dimly-lit nightclubs; a few, I could hardly remember, for they existed merely as a collected catalogue of the near-faceless men I had spent a few moments with. They were those I would sometimes anonymously huddle up next to. Acts of shared mutual desperation had brought us together, and inevitably pulled us apart. Often, I would only fully recognize them in d

Creative accounting and Australia’s same-sex ‘marriage’ plebiscite

Photograph of Malcolm Turnbull, New South Wales Liberal politician. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) With Australia the only major English-speaking country which has not legalized same-sex marriage, supporters are clamouring for change. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull stands firmly in the “ marriage equality ” camp, but has agreed to hold a plebiscite after the upcoming Federal election, if he wins. The plebiscite would not bind Parliament , but politicians would be foolish to ignore the result. If voters say Yes to same-sex marriage, the Marriage Act would be amended to allow marriage between any two persons. A plebiscite is fiercely opposed by the “marriage equality” lobby. Convinced that they have the numbers in Parliament, but unsure whether they will emerge victorious in a plebiscite, they want the pollies to settle the issue, not the people. One of their tactics is to underscore the cost of a plebiscite. The latest salvo is today’s release of an estimated cost for a ple

Gay activists tout victory at NYC St. Patrick’s Parade, pro-life groups remain shut out

The 255th annual parade meant to celebrate   the Feast of St. Patrick   in New York City is instead being touted as a victory for the homosexual movement. "I never thought I'd see the day when I could march up Fifth Avenue in the St. Patrick's Day Parade with my husband," said Brendan Fay, chairman of the   Lavender and Green Alliance , the second homosexual activist group allowed to march in the NYC Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. "When we started in 1991, after getting arrested so many times for protesting the parade, wow, what a moment this is." The Lavender and Green group follows   OUT@NBCUniversal , a pro-homosexual group for NBC employees that was allowed to march in the 2015 parade after decades of pressure from homosexual activists demanding to be allowed to march with an identifying banner, and organizers disposing of the parade’s long-standing policy to maintain focus on Irish heritage. “We Won!” was the headline of the   Irish Queers

Christian school in hot water after student banned from speaking about her gay father

The parent of a seven-year-old student at Foundation Christian College in Mandurah, Western Australia , has withdrawn his daughter from the school after her teacher stopped her from speaking to her class about gay marriage. WAtoday.com.au says her father was called in to the school and told that his daughter could only remain as a student at the Christian College if she never again mentioned her father’s sexuality or his partner. Late last week the school’s principal, Andrew Newhouse, released a statement saying, “We are completely upfront about the college’s vision and values from the time families express interest in having their children attend the college … A same-sex worldview is not congruent with our Christian worldview . “The real issue was that the Christian values being taught in the classroom were being undermined … It’s not helpful to confuse children at such a young age with complex and controversial issues.” Since then the school has been targeted by vandals, and ha
