New York, NY , July 26, 2011 – This past Sunday, an estimated nearly 10,000 people participated in a New York City rally and march in support of the traditional definition of marriage.  The rally, which was organized by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), took place on the same day as the first homosexual “marriages” were legally performed in New York State. More than 200 people also attended a NOM rally organized in Buffalo , New York on Sunday. In addition to New York City and Buffalo, NOM held rallies in Albany, Rochester, and Syracuse. “The crowds of supporters were just amazing,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president. “The crowd in Manhattan was so large the New York Police Department asked us to begin our march early so that we could relieve overcrowding at the gathering site.” The New York City march began in front of Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo ’s New York City offices on Park Avenue and then proceeded to the United Nations . Bloomberg attempts to defend Gay bribe money

Mayor Bloomberg said today he "owes it to his children" to support elected officials who stand up and "do the right thing" --  even if their actions have repercussions at the voting booth. Bloomberg spoke to the press corps, including our Erin Einhorn, following the opening of a new East River esplanade at Wall Street -- and following reports that Hizzoner cut sizable checks  to the four GOP state senators who put same-sex marriage legislation over the top. The Assembly voted Wednesday evening 80 – 63 to legalize same-sex “marriage.” Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo has campaigned heavily for the bill along with Lt. Gov. Bob Duffy , meeting with Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to secure their support. Already two Republicans, Sens. Jim Alesi (Rochester) and Roy MacDonald (Saratoga Springs), have switched their votes from “no” to “yes” on same-sex “marriage.”  Alesi has claimed that he only cast his vote against gay “marriage” in 2009 as a political move, to help Republicans reclaim the chamber in 2010. An unofficial vote count has the Senate split 31 – 31. If that count is accurate and the GOP allows the bill to come to the floor, then the tie-breaking vote would fall to Duffy as lieutenant governor, resulting in the bill’s
