California lawmakers are criminalizing any Christian response to same-sex attraction

There was an interview with a gay rights activist, who highlighted the claims of those who oppose gay "marriage" that religious liberty would be restricted, that parental rights would be under threat, and that LGBT material would be added to school curriculums.  Gay Activist: These people are lying, and they know they're lying. This is utterly false , the activist assured the interviewer with righteous indignation. Every single thing opponents of same-sex "marriage" warned about has taken place . Of course, LGBT activists have moved on and forgotten their convenient deceits. For most of them, this was the plan all along. California has been on the cutting edge of legislating the sexual revolution for some time, but nothing has been quite as terrifying as the passage of Bill 2943 through the California State Assembly last week. I don't want to appear as if I'm simply fear-mongering, so after wading through quite a bit of analysis on this l

Gay Bill 2943 and the gay agenda

A bill threatening free speech and religious freedom is quickly moving through the California state assembly . What’s it all about? Assembly Bill 2943 (AB 2943) uses the state’s consumer fraud statute to penalize religious freedom and free speech on the issues of homosexuality and gender identity. The bill adds “ sexual orientation change efforts ” to the state’s “Consumer Legal Remedies Act.” How does this affect people of faith? Both Scripture and Christian teaching are clear about God’s good plan for marriage and sexuality: God designed marriage to join one man and one woman in a committed, exclusive, lifelong relationship. Anything different is outside God’s design. Under this misguided legislation, anyone who proclaims this truth or offers help for those with unwanted homosexuality or transgenderism – whether behaviour, thoughts, identity or attractions – would be vulnerable to a lawsuit. Who does this effect? Our friends at the Alliance Defending Freedom have analyzed th

New CA Bill Outlaws Helping Anyone with Unwanted Same-Sex Desires or Gender Confusion

The chair of the California LGBT Caucus recently introduced a bill to outlaw Christians and others with a Biblical view of sexuality from helping people with unwanted same-sex desires or gender identity confusion. Assemblyman Evan Low’s bill, AB 2943 , declares “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual” as illegal under state’s consumer fraud law. The implications of this legislation spread far beyond regulating the type of counselling offered by licensed counsellors, who are already banned from helping minors with unwanted same-sex attractions . Several legal experts have confirmed that this bill targets the ability of religious non-profits, churches, and pastors from teaching and practising their faith regarding sexual orientation and gender. “The language used in this bill casts a wide net calculated to entangle religious institutions and ministers,” said Kevin Snider, Chief Counsel Pacific Justice Institute . “

Conversion therapy - Gay view versus Therapist view

Image
In this article, I present in a conversational form a hypothetical interaction between myself and a Typical Opponent of Professional Therapies that Include Change (i.e., a Mr Ty Optic). While hypothetical, this conversation is comprised of responses to common arguments frequently offered by people who are increasingly intent on legally restricting client self-determination and professional speech in the psychological care of unwanted same-sex attractions and behaviours.  Through the vehicle of this conversation, I hope to highlight the many difficulties with these arguments, particularly the incomplete or dishonest representation of the scientific record as regards the change in same-sex attractions and behaviours and the false caricatures of licensed therapists who do this work.  Those who value clients’ rights to choose a professional course of care consistent with their moral, religious, and cultural beliefs are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these responses

The American Psychological Association Says Born-That-Way-And-Can’t-Change Is Not True of Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity

In its “Series Preface,” the APA Handbook on Sexuality and Psychology (American Psychological Association, 2014) states, With the imprimatur of the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and the largest association of psychologists in the world, and with content edited and authored by some of its most respected members, the APA Handbooks in Psychology series will be the indispensable and authoritative reference resource to turn to for researchers, instructors, practitioners, and field leaders alike. (p. xvi). The American Psychological Association (APA) could not confer any higher authority on the APA Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology than it does, bestowing its “imprimatur” and calling it “authoritative.” In the APA Handbook, the American Psychological Association itself is now saying that born-that-way-and-can’t-change is not true. In addition, Dr Lisa Diamond , a self-avowed lesbian, is co-editor-in-chief
