Frequently, politicians take verses of Scripture out of their original context to prove whatever policy argument they wish to make. Consider, for example: " An eye for an eye " (to justify capital punishment); "The least of these" (in support for government anti-poverty programs); "Blessed are the peacemakers" (the promotion of pacifism). [1] One of the most striking examples is President Obama's statement endorsing same-sex "marriage" based on the Golden Rule . On May 9, 2012, the President said: [Michelle and I] are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root th

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The Rev. Joel Hunter of the 15,000-member Northland church, who is often referred to as President Barack Obama's spiritual adviser, said he is disappointed with the president's use of the "Golden Rule" to explain his endorsement of gay marriage. "The Golden Rule is in the Bible but it cannot be used to contradict God's marriage pattern reaffirmed by Jesus in Matthew 19:4-5," Hunter shared in an interview with The Christian Post. "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and the two shall become one flesh?'" Obama affirmed his support for same-sex marriage in an interview with ABC News

Assemblies of God Opposes Obama's Same-Sex Marriage Stance

One of the largest Pentecostal denominations in the United States has officially announced its opposition to President Barack Obama's stance on same-sex marriage. The Assemblies of God USA , a fellowship with more than 3 million members, sent out a statement on Thursday addressing the president's recent remarks endorsing gay marriage. "The Bible clearly teaches that marriage should be a life-long commitment between one man and one woman," said Dr. George O. Wood , general superintendent of the Assemblies. "Although it has become popular to quote Scripture grossly out of context to serve a personal or political agenda, it still doesn't change what God 's Word clearly states." During the 2008 presidential election, then candidate Senator Barack Obama did not endorse same-sex marriage. Throughout his presidency, as pressure from gay rights groups continued, Obama spoke of his position on the issue as "evolving," which resulted in criticism

Biden, Jr. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) After both Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan pushed for acceptance of same-sex marriage over the weekend, North Carolina became the 30th state to amend its constitution to define marriage as an act between one man and one woman. Now President Barack Obama has affirmed his support of same-sex marriage. In an interview with ABC News , President Obama stated: "I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a m

Obama, Sodomy and paganism

May 9, 2012 was indeed an historic moment. Though President Obama bathed his decision in Christian  principles: “…our faith…is not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf but it’s also the golden rule…treat others the way you’d want to be treated...” For the first time ever, a sitting US president, considered the most powerful political leader in the world, has endorsed a marital arrangement that formally constitutes the pagan “worship of the creation rather than worship of the Creator” (Romans 1:25). “How do you get  there ?” you may ask. My statement is neither panic nor exaggeration, since it comes from the theological reasoning of the inspired Apostle Paul

Obama endorses gay ‘marriage’: says support based on Jesus, Golden Rule?

WASHINGTON, D.C. , May 9, 2012, – President Barack Obama has flip-flopped on gay “marriage” for the second time, endorsing same-sex marriage in an interview today, in which he said his decision was motivated in part by his Christian faith and his belief in the Golden Rule . Obama confuses sin with compassion towards the sinner. Obama incorrectly interprets the sermon on the mount as justification for homosexual marriage. This man is totally theologically confused. Marriage as ordained and designed by God is completely ignored by Obama. Obama's personalized postmodern logic is very flawed and specifically against God's law. “I’ve just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama  told ABC News  reporter Robin Roberts in an interview to air this evening. He added that his wife, Michelle, agreed with him. “We’ve talked about it over the years and she, you know, she feels
