Ban books to protect gay hurts

Image
The battle over religious freedom has reached a fever pitch in California , where lawmakers are taking a new approach to punishing traditional beliefs about sex and gender. Assembly Bill (AB) 2943 declares acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) status and behaviour to be a matter of science. From that opening premise, the bill proceeds to subject sceptics to the full weight of the State’s anti-fraud and consumer protection regime for “sexual orientation change efforts” ( SOCE ) when “goods and services” are involved. Unlike prior legislation targeting SOCE, sometimes known as reparative or conversion therapy , this bill is not limited to minors or licensed counsellors. It also does not include any religious exemptions for churches or non-profit ministries. On its face, the targeted “goods and services” could include the sale of books on the power of the Gospel to heal sexual brokenness, or conferences addressing the same topics. Intolerant homosexual agenda to silence any objections

Image
Maybe you once thought the left wants tolerance and diversity, but in reality, tolerance and diversity have never been the goals of the left, especially the radical left. Instead, it wants to suppress and silence opposing views, and the farther left you go, the more extreme the intolerance. For those who have still not come to grips with this, let these recent examples jar you. It is bad enough that states have been passing legislation  banning counseling  for minors struggling with same-sex attraction , even if they have their parents' backing.  But now there are reports that some states are considering banning such counseling for people of any age. (I was informed of this last week by a Christian counselor in California.) In other words, it could be illegal for a 30-year-old man with unwanted same-sex attractions to go for professional counseling that focuses on helping him deal with and even overcome these attractions. This is a monstrous violation of individual

Homosexuals attack ex-gay

Homosexuals attack ex-gay Simultaneously, a church program to help those with unwanted same-sex attractions was cruelly condemned, regardless of the needs of men and women desperate to leave the dangerous lifestyle. The Perth City Church of Christ hosted James Parker, an ex- gay man who converted to Christ and is now the head of a family. The husband and father openly admitted his previous promiscuous lifestyle and offered concrete hope to entrapped homosexuals that there is a way out. Parker said he was abused by many teachers in his home country of England as well as an older male. He developed an addiction to pornography and alcohol. He declared himself “gay” at age 17 and bedded over 200 men while attending a London university. At one point, he nearly considered himself transgender. But then  Parker  “experienced a profound spiritual awakening” and “discovered in a deep way the forgiveness, love and mercy of Jesus Christ .” The way out for Parker, he said, was

Are Homosexuals under God's grace and not law?

Image
To attempt to evade Leviticus and the clear prohibitions of homosexuality by declaring, “We are not under law, but under grace,” is far too simplistic.  As we have seen, this phrase is employed in the same-sex controversy in an attempt to reduce the Leviticus prohibitions of homosexuality to irrelevancy. We have also observed that any approach that attempts to dismiss the entirety of the book of Leviticus is without biblical warrant.  The apostle Paul wrote, “For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14). An obvious distinction—an antithesis—does exist between law and grace, but are they antithetical in such a way that they render the book of Leviticus irrelevant and without bearing in the life of the Christian? How are we to understand these words concerning law and grace? Does the Law have any place in the life of the Christian? It is clear that Paul did not intend to teach that the Law has absolutely no relevance, bearing

Australia: Banning Real Help for Those Seeking Change

Image
The Victorian government recently passed a bill which would ban those seeking to provide help for those who want to deal with their unwanted same-sex attractions . This dangerous bill would likely have escaped the attention of most folks, but the homosexual community was fully aware of it. One homosexual website for example said this when the bill was first mooted: A new bill set to crack down on dodgy health practitioners such as gay conversion therapists will be introduced to the Victorian Parliament today. The introduction of a proposed new complaints system has been described as “tough” by Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy (pictured) who says existing loopholes will be filled with “some pretty tough new powers”.   “We’ve had a number of challenges in terms of the sorts of services people have been provided and no legislative tools to really respond to it. We’re taking action to crack down on dangerous health practitioners who take advantage of vulnerable Vict

Gay activists urge UN to declare ‘reparative therapy’ a form of torture

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) American activists against “ reparative therapy ” asked the UN Committee on Torture to define the practice as a form of torture and a violation of international law. At issue is the treatment sought by persons who struggle with unwanted same-sex desires. Many therapists still offer the treatment to those who ask for it, even though professional organizations for the therapeutic community say same-sex desire is not a form of mental illness and discourage this kind of therapy. Christians simply states: this locks people into sin. There is a movement in the United States to ban all such therapy by law. Already, New Jersey and California have banned reparative therapy for minors and the National Center for Lesbian Rights is campaigning for a nationwide ban in the next five years. It was this group that went to Geneva this week. The UN Committee on Torture is a treaty monitoring body that overs

Lesbian group wants UN to label sexual orientation counseling ‘torture’

Following their successful push to outlaw sexual orientation change therapy (sometimes called “conversion therapy”) for minors in their home state of California, the National Center for Lesbian Rights is looking to ban the treatment all over the world, and they want the United Nations ’ help. The group will address the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva next month, putting forward their case that counseling aimed at curing unwanted same-sex attraction amounts to "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment" and "torture." “Persuading the Committee Against Torture to take up the issue of conversion therapy on the international stage has the potential to save the lives of countless LGBT youth in the United States and around the world,” said NCLR attorney Samantha Ames. “ Conversion therapy is damaging our human rights record both at home and around the world and creating a crisis the United Nations can and should address this November."
