Project aiming to push ‘LGBTQ2S’ picture books into pre-K classes meets funding goal

Image
An  online fundraising project  to publish new LGBTQ2S picture books for children aged 4-8, with the hope of having the books picked up by schools, has recently met its fundraising target.  693 backers pledged a combined $56,793 to the project, called the “Flamingo Rampant Book Club.”  The fundraising goal was $49,000. The books will “celebrate a great and wide variety of LGBTQ2S kids, families, and communities,” according to the description of the project.  The books will also “celebrate gender-independent kids and adults.” The individual behind the project is S. Bear Bergman .  Given that his same-sex spouse, who goes by the name “j wallace,” is an employee of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), and that these books are being marketed to teachers and school librarians, it is more than likely that these books will end up in elementary school classrooms across Toronto .  The fundraising webpage for the project brags about the positive press the project has gotten, and di

32 states ask the Supreme Court to weigh in on same-sex ‘marriage’ bans

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) America’s so-called “ red states ” and “blue states” may have very different views about whether same-sex “marriage” should be legal, but there’s one thing a majority have agreed upon: The Supreme Court needs to make a ruling on the issue, and soon. Citing the “morass” brought about by dozens of conflicting court decisions at both the state and federal level regarding the legality of marriage protection laws – which define marriage as a union between one man and one woman – seventeen states with such laws have signed on to a court filing asking the Supreme Court to review two federal circuit court rulings overturning  Oklahoma’s  and  Utah’s  bans on same-sex “marriage.” Colorado , which is currently fighting its own battle with the 10 th  Circuit to save its marriage protection law, led the

Australian soldier, father of 6, fired after criticizing army for joining gay parade

A reveler in Sydney on Mardi Gras. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) An Australian soldier who has served three tours of duty in Iraq and who is a Catholic father of six was thrown out of the army by top brass in July for his public opposition to uniformed military participation for the first time in the 2013 Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney . Major Bernard Gaynor, 35, from Queensland, was terminated in July after going public with his criticism of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for marching in the event. Like most western militaries, the ADF bars uniformed members from participating in political activities or events that insult and offend specific religions. The Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, organized around the theme of campaigning for national same-sex ‘marriage’ laws, included men dressed as nuns carrying signs with the message “Jesus is gay.” Participants ridiculed and vilified politicians and political parties opposed to same-sex “marriage.” The event also included p

Burning at the stake. An illustration from an mid 19th century book. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) If you hear the words “ witch hunt ,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Well, you might think of the Salem witch trials , when mass hysteria gripped colonial Massachusetts in the late seventeenth century and twenty people—most of them women—were executed on charges of being witches. Another five died in prison. But the era of the witch hunt is far from over. According to Merriam-Webster, a witch hunt is “the act of unfairly looking for and punishing people who are accused of having opinions that are believed to be dangerous or evil.” And of course, at the top of the dangerous and evil opinion list these days is believing what the Bible says about human sexuality and marriage. While public shaming and fines against Christian business people and academics have become so commonplace as to be almost non-newsworthy, I  do  want to share with you a particularly egregious exam

Record number of GOP candidates for Congress back gay ‘marriage’: report

Image
Crowd in support of Gay Marriage (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Congress could see a historic number of Republican members who support same-sex “marriage” after the 2014 elections. This week, National Journal reported that 11 Republicans running to represent their states and districts on Capitol Hill support same-sex "marriage," as do three incumbents not running in 2014. Six of the 11 candidates are incumbents, while the rest are challengers. Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition told LifeSiteNews that while the number of GOP candidates and incumbents has grown in recent years, perspective is necessary. "Let's keep in mind there are currently 233 Members of the House and 45 Senators who are Republican," she said. "Whether the numbers of gay marriage supporters are 3, 5, 6 or 11 – out of 278, these numbers do not make a seismic shift." Tim Wildmon , president of the influential American Family Association, warned that "th

Judges order Arizona and Indiana to recognize gay ‘marriages’ on death certificates

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Two federal judges have ordered Arizona and Indiana to recognize same-sex “ marriages ” on death certificates, although both states have laws defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman. In Arizona, Judge John Sedwick   ordered  the state to issue a death certificate for George Martinez listing his marital status as “married” and his spouse as Fred McQuire.  The two were “married” in California in July, and Martinez died in September.  They had previously sued Arizona to recognize their out-of-state “marriage” as legal – a case that is still ongoing. In his decision, Sedwick said that the majority of federal appeals courts have found that “marriage laws which discriminate between heterosexual couples and homosexual couples infringe a fundamental right.”  He said he thought it was likely that Arizona’s marriage protection law will soon be overturned.  Sedwick’s decision applies exclusively to Martin

Protecting marriage isn’t enough – we must oppose gay ‘civil unions’ too

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Philippe Ariño, one of the original initiators of the French “Manif pour tous” rallies against the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in November 2012, is suggesting that opposition to the law and its probable developments needs to be coherent and complete if it hopes to be efficient. In a recent and widely-circulated  article  published on his blog, he writes that the objective must be to put an end to legalized “civil unions” as well. Ariño, a non-practicing homosexual , left the “Manif pour tous” by March 2013, criticizing the movement’s figurehead, Frigide Barjot, for her stands on “homosexual love” and her insistence that civil unions were not only acceptable, but should benefit from a more favorable legal framework. Barjot herself was to be ousted from the organization for the same reason, but the “Manif pour tous” still take
