Bucking the nation’s politically correct transgender tide, the Kansas Republican Party voted this weekend to “oppose all efforts to validate transgender identity.” The resolution affirms “God’s design for gender as determined by biological sex and not by self-perception.” While the Kansas GOP ’s resolution attests to the dignity of all LGBT people , the statement also makes clear that it does not support medical procedures––hormonal or surgical––which aim to affirm people’s perceived, non-biological gender identities .   One intent of the resolution appears to be aimed at counteracting pro-transgender efforts now underway in Kansas’ public school systems. “Some Kansas public schools are encouraging parents and teachers to affirm the feelings of children experiencing gender dysphoria,” reads the approved resolution.  “And some Kansas public schools are allowing access to private facilities according to children’s self-perception of gender and not according to biological

  The Ordinary Synod of the Bishops on the Family  opened today to address the theme of “The vocation and mission of the family in the Church and the modern world.” The world’s media will be watching the bishops very closely, expecting them to ratify “changes” to the Church’s teaching on divorced Catholics and hoping for “changes” to the teaching on homosexuality . Journalists conveniently forget, what most of them know, that the core of Church teaching does not change. However, some of the bishops want to discuss precisely what this “core” really is. And that is unsettling.  A new study shows that growing up without a father not only affects behavior – it transforms children's brain structure. That's the verdict reached by the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center and recently published in the journal  Cerebral Cortex . Researchers studied the behavior and brains of Californian mice who, like humans, are monogamous and raise their children as a unit. Mice separated from their fathers showed greater aggression, anti-social behavior , and “abnormal social interactions” than those raised with both parents. “The behavioral deficits we observed are consistent with human studies of children raised without a father,”  said  Dr. Gabriella Gobbi, the report's lead author. Are people ever born with conditions that are not normal and sometimes harmful? Is there any difference between sexual desires (“orientation”) and sexual behavior? Should people act on every desire they have? Homosexuals are born as males or females, so why should they follow their desires but not the design of their bodies?  Some homosexuals insist that they have had homosexual desires as long as they can remember. Somehow this is supposed to prove that these desires are the result of nature not nurture. But this argument ultimately fails to justify homosexual behavior or any behavior for that matter.  First, notice that “born-that-way” is an argument from nature or design: “Since I was designed with these desires, I ought to act on them.” The people who say this normally presume that the Designer is God . 63   But if you insist that God designed your desires, then you cannot deny He designed your body as well.  This raises the question to homosexuals who make this argument:  Why ar

Is there a difference between skin color and sexual behavior ? Why should we classify people because of what they desire to do sexually?  Homosexuals want to be considered a class of people by depicting themselves as victims who, like blacks, have been denied civil rights . That way, they can make the unsuspecting public think that those who oppose their political agenda are discriminating against them rather than their behavior. According to them, conservatives are all bigots on par with racists—we are opposed to fairness itself.  But all of that is nonsense. First, the comparison of homosexuality to race is completely invalid. Skin color is benign, but sexual behavior is not. Having a certain skin color does not hurt anyone, but homosexual behavior can and does hurt others. The issue of homosexual behavior has had a lot of publicity of late. Homosexuals say that the slaves have been freed and women have been liberated, so gay rights are long overdue. Society does seem to be moving in that direction. Many homosexuals are “coming out” and openly declaring their homosexuality. In many parts of the western world, homosexual couples receive the same recognition as heterosexual couples with regard to social security benefits. Some church leaders are giving their blessing to homosexual relationships , homosexual church members and even homosexual ministers. Many homosexuals' claim that… They are made that way. Homosexuality is of no harm to the participants or to anyone else. If it feels right to those involved, it is nobody else's business. Homosexual relationships and heterosexual relationships are equally valid. (Some even claim that the Bible condones homosexual relationships.) Made that way? Since other groups who have been discriminated a
