San Diego bishop praises pro-gay parish - heretic

Image
The director of the young adult ministry at a parish San Diego Bishop Robert McElroy recently praised for its "welcoming" attitude toward " LGBT worshippers" is an openly gay man who works for an organization that supports same-sex "marriage" and women's ordination. The   San Diego Union Tribune   reported that McElroy cited St. John the Evangelist in Hillcrest as an example of a parish where "LGBT worshippers 'feel particularly welcome.'" "That’s a very good thing," he said. McElroy was commenting on the Diocese of San Diego's recent synod on the family, after which he   encouraged priests to give Holy Communion to the divorced and "remarried" and embrace "LGBT families." St. John the Evangelist advertises on its Twitter page: "In worship and in sacrament, our Catholic parish is called to extend God's kingdom to young and old, gay and straight, single, married or divorced.&qu

Is homosexuality a sin?

Image
The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin ( Genesis 19:1-13 ; Leviticus 18:22 ; 20:13 ; Romans 1:26-27 ; 1 Corinthians 6:9 ). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God. God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin ( Romans 1:24-27 ) and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does t

7 ways Christians interpret - homosexual agenda and marriage

The first step in navigating your way through any complicated topic is to work out what the main approaches are and try (as best you can) to identify what is appealing about each position, as well as what might be a weakness. In our efforts to think through the fraught topic of same sex marriage, the Centre for Public Christianity has developed the following brief guide to seven approaches we’ve encountered amongst Christians wrestling with this topic. It does not claim to be exhaustive. It cannot capture every nuance. But we thought it might still be helpful to describe the various perspectives in a simple, convenient format, and invite readers to evaluate their own position in light of the alternatives.  1.     Innovators : moving beyond scripture Innovators enthusiastically support same sex marriage. They do so with what they hold to be a generous   moving beyond   the Bible’s teaching. For some this will be justified on the theologically liberal grounds that the Bible is

The website of USAID proudly includes a section entitled  USAID LGBT Vision for Action  under it's "What We Do" page. In a  memorandum  which lays out th

Same-Sex civil unions in Italy: Historical betrayal by Catholic politicians

Image
The approval of homosexual pseudo-marriage in the Senate on February 25th 2016, with 173 in favor, 71 against and 76 abstentions is the last stage in the process of dissolution of Italian society which began with the introduction of divorce (1970), then the legalization of abortion (1978) and has as its next, imminent step, the legalization of euthanasia. With that in mind, we understand the exaltation of the secular press: “In the long and tortuous history of sexual liberation in Italy – writes Francesco Merlo in “ La Repubblica ”, February 26th – this law has the same epochal importance as the law on divorce and the law that regulates abortion”. What these three events have in common is an act of betrayal committed by men in Catholic government. Divorce passed under a centre-left government presided over by the Christian Democrat , Emilio Colombo . Abortion was passed by a Christian Democrat government, presided over by Giulio Andreotti . The Christian Democrats were brought

Social conservative leaders wonder: Can homosexual activism and religious liberty ‘coexist’?

Image
Minutes after addressing a packed room at the 2016 CPAC, two leading social conservatives told LifeSiteNews that sexual agendas are putting religious liberty at risk. The Family Research Council 's Travis Weber told LifeSiteNews that "for a lot of us, religious liberty's only been a hot-button issue recently, we're seeing in the news. Why is that? It's driven by agendas affecting matters of sexuality – marriage, abortion, contraception, and all sorts of other issues." "So what do we do about this? Some of these claims are going to be dealt with in the courts. Others, though, we need to deal with [inaudible] protections. Where's the threat right now? It's on anyone doing business with the government, having indexes with the government, those getting tax-exempt status, contracting, getting grants, etc." "And those folks need to be protected with a version of the federal First Amendment Defense Act, or state government non-disc

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) WOONSOCKET, Rhode Island , March 7, 2016 ( LifeSiteNews ) – A Rhode Island Catholic school has instituted a policy against enrolling transgender students . However, in the face of backlash the school says it is open to rethinking the policy. “Mount Saint Charles Academy is unable to make accommodations for transgender students,” the school’s handbook states. “Therefore, MSC does not accept transgender students nor is MSC able to continue to enroll students who identify as transgender.” The policy against admitting students identifying as transgender has been in effect at the Woonsocket, Rhode Island , prep school as of October of last year, according to The Daily Beast . It was recently noticed by some alumni, th

Trump wants to play Homosexual marriage and traditional marriage

Image
A reporter asked Donald Trump whether he favors 'marriage' rights for same-sex couples and whether his appointees to the US Supreme Court would be expected to overturn the US Supreme Court's Obergefell ruling imposing gay 'marriage' on the nation.  Trump refused to answer the question despite being pressed, claiming that his position is "well known" and he's explained it "150 times." However, as the Daily Mail reporter noted, Trump has never answered this direct question and said unequivocally whether he favors or opposes marriage rights for same-sex couples.  Rather, Trump has "taken both sides in the battle over the Supreme Court's landmark decision legalizing gay unions." The article suggested that Trump may be seeking to maintain flexibility on the issue in order to "stake out a more centrist position in a general election..."
