In order to reduce the associated “stigma” for people who practice polyamory, the American Psychological Association (APA) is putting together a task force to study "consensual non-monogamy.” Psychologists based at California universities, who are leading the group, seek to promote "awareness and inclusivity about consensual non-monogamy and diverse expressions of intimate relationships." According to the website for the task force of Division 44 of the APA: "Finding love and/or sexual intimacy is a central part of most people’s life experience. However, the ability to engage in desired intimacy without social and medical stigmatization is not a liberty for all. Gender ideology is a belief system that holds that sex is a social construct. Gender ideology teaches that every person has something called a "gender identity" in the brain that may or may not be the same as that person's biological sex. Its central tenet is that this "gender identity" is more real than the material biological reality of a person's sex.  In philosophical terms, it meets the definition of gnostic dualism. In the last 5 years, gender ideology has overtaken every major public institution in our society from mass and social media to public and private education from pre-school forward, to professional medicine and psychiatry, and increasingly, law. Pro-transgender activists gathered outside a Rhode Island Catholic Church last week to protest a lecture delivered by pediatrician Michelle Cretella, who views  affirming transgenderism in kids  as a form of child abuse . Dr. Michelle Cretella, MD, FCP, president of the American College of Pediatricians , is a prominent expert in children’s health who has battled against the relentless promotion of transgender ideology as it impacts kids. At issue was a recently-enacted Rhode Island law which prohibits parents from seeking psychological help for their gender dysphoric children.    Rhode Island Catholic   explained the reason for Cretella’s presentation at the Church: Last year, the State of Rhode Island made it illegal for a licensed medical professional to counsel a child away from the desire to change his/her gender identity, yet it remains legal to inject that same child with hormone blockers and cross-sex hormones. There is a huge difference between people who struggle with their gender identity and people who are LGBT activists . Most people who suffer from gender dysphoria are not activists, and many of them reject the activists’ claims. Many of them may be regarded as victims of the activists, as I document in the book . Many of those who feel distress over their bodily sex know that they aren’t really the opposite sex, and do not wish to “transition.” They wish to receive help in coming to identify with and accept their bodily self. They don’t think their feelings of gender dysphoria define reality. But trans activists do. And they tolerate no dissent. They’ve gone after “trans-friendly” doctors—who regularly support transition therapies for adults—for not being trans-friendly enough in encouraging children to transition. The American College of Pediatricians is a professional organization confident in the science we present and in the traditional ethics we uphold. In the past, we have typically directed critics to the relevant content on our website. On May 8, 2017, however,  Psychology Today  published  a piece  by Mr. Jack Turban that is not only libelous, but also denies the fact that untold numbers of American children are being experimented upon, and many of them permanently sterilized, under the guise of treating a largely transient disorder known as Gender Dysphoria of Childhood. This warrants a more public response. The American College of Pediatricians has held true to its founding principles summarized by its slogan, “Best for Children.” The College has also endured ad hominem attacks for making factual statements that threaten agendas which promote the  wants  of adults over the  needs  of children. School officials are being increasingly pressured by pro-homosexual organizations to integrate homosexual education into school curricula. These organizations recommend promoting homosexuality as a normal, immutable trait that should be validated during childhood, as early as kindergarten. These organizations also condemn all efforts to provide treatment to gender confused students, advocating instead the creation of student groups that affirm homosexual attractions and behaviors. One of the most coordinated efforts to convince school officials to embrace this position was launched by a coalition of 13 organizations which produced a brochure entitled, Just the Facts about Sexual Orientation and Youth .
