Lesbian Couple sue council $10K Over Calling Them An 'Abomination'

Image
A West Virginia county clerk 's office has agreed to pay $10,000 in damages to a lesbian couple who said they faced disparaging remarks while applying for a marriage license last year. The incident prompted Amanda Abramovich and Samantha Brookover to sue Gilmer County Deputy Clerk Debbie Allen and Clerk Jean Butcher. According to the complaint, Allen called the couple an “abomination” and told them that God would “deal” with them while processing their application. According to The Washington Post , Allen's comments against the women lasted several minutes and another clerk shouted that it was Allen's “ religious right ” to harass the couple. When Brookover's mother, who witnessed the abuse, called the county clerk's office to complain, she said that Butcher stood by her deputy and allegedly said that the next same-sex couple that sought a marriage license “would get the same or worse” treatment. Allen has denied she called the couple an “abomination or any

Gay couple can sue Kim Davis for damages, appeals court rules

A federal appeal court has revived a homosexual couple’s claim for damages against Kentucky clerk Kim Davis for refusing to sign their marriage licence . In August 2016, U.S. District Judge David Bunning tossed out as moot three lawsuits against Davis, citing Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin ’s  executive order  that allowed marriage licences to be printed without the issuing clerk’s name on them. A clerk in Rowan County and a born-again  Apostolic Christian , Davis was willing to issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples but had asked for a religious exemption not to sign her name to them, because she believed doing so would endorse homosexuality. But in a  May 2 ruling , three judges on 6th U.S. Circuit Appeal Court reversed Bunning’s decision on the lawsuit brought against Davis by homosexual couple David Ermold and David Moore. They ruled Ermold and Moore were not suing against a general policy but were seeking “damages for a particularized harm allegedly suffered by

Courageous Christians Resisting the Rainbow Warriors

Image
Homosexual marriage changes everything. I and others have made this warning for decades now. And on a daily basis we see the frightening truth of this. Everyone is impacted by such radical social and legal changes. We are all at risk. And Christians are especially being targeted. I have documented numerous cases of anti- Christian bigotry both in my books and on my website. One could monitor all this on a full time basis, and still have a hard time keeping up. Here are more cases of the attack on faith and freedom by the homosexual militants. But these are also stories of courageous Christian resistance. Here I offer three recent stories coming out of North America of steadfast believers who have refused to bow the knee to the rainbow gods, but have stood fast, even when that means suffering very real consequences. The first story comes from Illinois: A Christian’s 14-year career is being threatened because he refused to watch a training video on lesbian, homosexual, bi

Christian sues county after being fired for refusing to perform same-sex ‘wedding’

Image
Last year, a county clerk in Kentucky was   jailed   for refusing to issue homosexual marriage licenses . Now a county clerk in Florida is fighting a similar battle. Broward County Clerk Yanicka Parker was fired for asking her boss to have someone else in the clerk's office issue a marriage license to gays. Parker explained to Clerk of Courts Howard Forman that as a Christian and a minister she could not condone sodomy because of her sincerely held beliefs. As soon as she received an interdepartmental email stating all employees must perform wedding vows and issue licenses for homosexuals, Parker requested an accommodation. She also asked to be transferred or reassigned to a department that did not require officiating homosexual unions. When a statewide ban on homosexual marriage was rescinded on January 6, 2015, she again asked that someone else in the large Broward County Clerk's Office perform those duties, which constitute only a fraction of her work. Pope’s gay friend claims activists should credit Francis for steps to advance LGBT cause

Image
The homosexual friend of Pope Francis who took his partner to meet the Catholic pontiff in DC in September is now defending the pope from gay activist critics upset over the controversial meeting with Kim Davis . Instead, Yayo Grassi claims, gay activists should credit Francis for his efforts to change the Church’s attitude on homosexual issues. Word of the pope’s meeting with Grassi and his boyfriend, their second meeting as a couple with the pontiff, came immediately after the Vatican took steps to distance itself from Davis. After the news came out about the pope’s meeting with Davis, Vatican spokesmen rebuffed news headlines by claiming the audience with Grassi and his partner was “ the only real audience ” at the U.S. nunciature that day. Grassi , a former student of the pope’s, said that Pope Francis is taking steps to change the Church on LGBT issues , and also claims the pope has told him that he never made some of the strongest statements in support of marriage at

Kim Davis loses another appeal

Image
Kim Davis has lost another appeal with the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals . The Associated Press reports that the Kentucky clerk's attorneys with Liberty Counsel argued that only the four couples who sued David for not giving them same-sex "marriage" licenses should have received the papers. Instead, all same-sex couples were granted licenses, in a revised decision by U.S. District Judge David Bunning . Bunning is also the judge who jailed Davis for contempt of court when she refused to issue the licenses, despite his order. Earlier this week, Davis also asked the Sixth Circuit Court to overturn four lower-court decisions against her; it is not known how the Court will respond to that request. According to groups supporting the measure, a number of big businesses have gotten behind the ballot initiative, urging voters to say “yes.” Seven of the biggest include: 1. Apple 2. BASF 3. Dell 4. Dow Co. 5. General Electric 6. Hewlett Packard 7. United Airlines “Apple is proud to be a part of Houston with four stores that employ over 500 people,” the company, according to the Human Rights Campaign , said in a statement. Our stores and ou

Christian who refused to print ‘Gay Pride’ t-shirts gets support from LGBT business owners

LEXINGTON, Kentucky,– A Christian business owner who was targeted for not printing " Gay Pride " t-shirts is getting support from an unlikely ally: lesbian business owners. "No one should be forced to do something against what they believe in. If we were approached by an organization such as the Westboro Baptist Church , I highly doubt we would be doing business with them, and we would be very angry if we were forced to print anti-gay t-shirts," said Diane DiGeloromo, one of two lesbians who owns BMP T -shirts. "This isn't a gay or straight issue. This is a human issue."   Issued by Becket Fund for Religious Liberty , DiGeloromo's statement was echoed by her business partner, Kathy Trautvetter. "You put your blood and your sweat and your tears into [your business]" and "it's very personal. ... When I put myself in [Mr. Adamson's] shoes, I could see it from his side," said Trautvetter. Kim Davis takes her freedom fight to Sixth Circuit

Image
ROWAN COUNTY, Kentucky , November 3, 2015 -- Kentucky clerk Kim Davis is taking her fight to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals . In a 126-page appeal, Davis and her attorneys with Liberty Counsel asked the Circuit Court to overturn four lower-court decisions. Specifically, they are asking the Court to reverse two injunctions against Davis, as well as grant her an injunction from having to follow the Supreme Court's marriage ruling, and overturn the contempt of court decision   that placed her in jail . Davis became a national figure for religious liberty after refusing to sign same-sex "marriage" certificates. One of her attorneys   told LifeSiteNews that they effectively won the legal fight , but that the fight continues   because LGBT activists won't stop pressing Davis to put her name on "marriage" certificates for same-sex couples . Davis' arguments have relied heavily on the U.S. Constitution , the Kentucky Constitution, and the stat
