Why are we surprised with the push for ‘pedophile rights’?

Image
Image via Wikipedia Many Americans have been shocked by reports about a recent pro-pedophilia conference in Baltimore in which psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, representing institutions like Harvard and Johns Hopkins, sought to present pedophilia in a sympathetic and even positive light. But why should this surprise us? Academic articles in scholarly journals have been presenting pedophilia in a sympathetic light for years, and, as Matthew Cullinan Hoffman noted, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) released a report in 1998 “claiming that the ‘negative potential’ of adult sex with children was ‘overstated’ and that ‘the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from their child sexual abuse experiences.’ It even claimed that large numbers of the victims reported that their experiences were ‘positive,’ and suggested that the phrase ‘child sex abuse’ be replaced with ‘adult-child sex.’” Others have coined the more disgusting te

Lesbian ex-partners can seek child custody from biological mother: Nebraska high court

Image
Image via Wikipedia An unrelated woman can seek custody rights over an unadopted child if the petitioner once acted as co-parent during a lesbian relationship with the mother, Nebraska ’s high court has ruled. The ruling, issued on Friday, deflected to a lower court the custody dispute between Teri Latham and Susan Schwerdtfeger of Omaha , the latter of whom underwent in vitro fertilization , leading to the birth of a baby boy in January 2001. The couple, who had been together since 1985, split five years later. Latham is arguing that, because she shared the cost in vitro fertilization and continued to make efforts to visit the boy after the split, she should be granted visitation rights . Schwerdtferger argues that Latham did not pay to help support the child, and that the child no longer wishes to have a relationship with Latham. Last year, a district court for Douglas County allowed telephonic visits by Latham, but after hearing further arguments and interviewing Schwerdtfeger’s

Homosexual students automatically eligible for scholarship: Elmhurst college

Image
High school students applying to Elmhurst College in Illinois this fall will be asked whether they consider themselves “a member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) community,” the  Chicago Sun-Times  reports. The entrance of Elmhurst college. The liberal arts college , located just outside Chicago , is boasting on its website that it is the first undergraduate program to ask that question of its applicants. Answering the question is optional, Gary Rold, Elmhurst’s dean of admissions, told the Sun-Times. Checking “yes,” however, could make a student eligible for scholarship assistance of up to 30% of tuition. Rold also said that including the question is intended to help the college direct its homosexual students to services and organizations targeted for them. “Increasing diversity is part of our mission statement ,” he told the news service. “This is simply closing the loop, in many ways, of another group who has a very strong identity. It may not be race and rel

Perry signs pledge to protect marriage, oppose homosexual ‘marriage’

Image
Image via Wikipedia Presidential candidate Rick Perry has signed a pledge that if elected president he will protect the traditional definition of marriage and oppose homosexual “marriage.” The Republican Texas governor joins Mitt Romney , Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum in signing the National Organization for Marriage (NOM)  pledge . Rick Perry's signature on the National Organization for Marriage pledge “Kudos to Gov. Rick Perry for making it clear: he’s a marriage champion,” National Organization for Marriage (NOM) president Brian Brown said in an August 26  statement . “By doing so, Perry makes crystal clear that, contrary to the conventional wisdom, gay marriage is going to be a bigger issue in 2012 than it was in 2008, because the difference between the GOP nominee and President Obama is going to be large and clear,” Brown said. “We look forward to demonstrating that being for marriage is a winning position for a presidential candidate.” The NOM marriage pledge lists

Bert and Ernie: best buddies in an over-sexualized culture

Image
Sesame Workshop , the company that produces the kid’s show “ Sesame Street ,” announced last week the Bert and Ernie will not be getting married. Bert and Ernie, two of the show’s Muppets , are best buddies. They live in the same house and sleep in the same room — in separate twin beds. They bicker, they share, they enjoy a bedtime cookie together every night. Bert & Ernie from Sesame Street They’re such good friends that some assume they must be gay. And one group used an online petition to ask “Sesame Street” to let the truth be known. Bert and Ernie, they say, should come out of the closet and get married.  This would presumably teach tolerance and respect for differences — something, the petitioners note, “Sesame Street” has tried to do for years. But “Sesame Street” has made it clear that Bert and Ernie are puppets and as such, “Do not have a sexual orientation.” Good point: but that’s not the only reason that t Image by See-ming Lee 李思明 SML via Flickr heir getting married

How to defend your children against pro-gay lessons in the classroom

Image
Image via Wikipedia As young people across North America head back to school next week parents need to attend to more than just making sure the back-to-school clothes and utensils are in place.  There is an unprecedented attack on morals coming from the school. Particularly in the area of sexuality, so called public morality has moved outside of the realm of life-and-family-affirming principles to such an extent that a veritable anti-morality is being fed to our children.  And this year there is a concerted effort to restrict parents from countering the efforts of the school to promote this anti-morality. Both in  California  and  Ontario  pro-homosexual curricula are to be introduced into public schools forbidding parents from opting their children out from such instruction.  Even where parent opt-outs are permitted however, some schools have resorted to instructing students to  keep secret  from their parents sexuality discussions held in the school. My fellow parents, are yo

Ottawa school board joins homosexual ‘pride’ parade

Image
Image via Wikipedia Over 100 teachers, principals and trustees from the Ottawa public school board joined about 1,600 homosexual marchers in this year’s “pride” parade held in the nation’s capital on Sunday. The public school board also provided a yellow school bus decked out in rainbow flags that led the parade. Ottawa-Carleton District school board (OCDSB) trustee Donna Blackburn, who represents the Barrhaven-Knoxdale-Merivale area and is openly lesbian, told the media she encouraged the board to publicly support the parade. “After I was sworn in, I approached the director and the board of education about the idea of doing this, and they were very supportive, and for me it was just a natural progression of what the board’s been doing for many, many years, supporting gay, lesbian, transgendered and bisexual youth,” Blackburn told CTV News earlier this month. The school’s inclusion the parade appears to have touched a nerve with local parents. In the comments section under one  CT

Genuine Marriage is lifelong exclusive between a man & a woman

Image
“It’s an opportunity to make the ultimate sacrifice . Lay your life down for someone else.” This is how one of many young people interviewed for a powerful new video about love and marriage produced by the Ruth Institute describes the purpose of marriage. Through a variety of interviews, the video, a project of The Emerging Leaders program, highlights the intense desire that people in the youngest generations have for self-sacrificial, unconditional and lifelong love – and the hope that they have that they will be able to find it. “They would walk through fire for one another,” says another young woman, describing the attitude a married couple should have towards one another. “I just long for that connection with another person. To be able to love like that.” The video concludes with the youth each committing themselves “to lifelong married love .” “I love this video,”  Ruth Institute  President Jennifer Roback Morse told LifeSiteNews.com, explaining that at the heart of the “I
