Philadelphia Catholic college revises code after firing homosexual prof.

Image via Wikipedia PHILADELPHIA, December 13, 2011  - A small Catholic college in Philadelphia has revised its policies to end employment discrimination based on “sexual orientation [or] gender identity ” after its firing of an openly gay dissident priest set off a controversy, reports the  Cardinal Newman Society . While the cleric said he felt “vindicated” by the change, the school says the change simply reflects recent changes in city non-discrimination rules. Chestnut Hill College leaders earlier this year explained that the college terminated an adjunct teaching contract with Jim St. George, who presented himself as “Fr. George,” when the college discovered that he was engaged in a long-term relationship with another man. St. George is a member of the  Old Catholic Apostolic Church of the Americas , a group that broke away from the Catholic Church in the 19th century. “At the time St. George joined our faculty, he presented himself as Father St. George and openly wore a tradi

Rainbow Sash Movement thanks Archbishop Niederauer for tolerating parish’s homosexual activism

WASHINGTON, DC, December 6, 2011  – An organization dedicated to advancing acceptance of homosexuality in the Catholic Church is thanking the archbishop of San Francisco for tolerating a San Francisco church’s activism for their cause. Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in San Francisco, a parish that is known nationally for its homosexual activism,  invited  Otis Charles, the former Episcopal bishop of Utah, to preach at its November 30 Advent Vespers service . Members of the Rainbow Sash Movement prepare to protest Catholic Church teaching on homosexuality at a Catholic church. Charles is well-known for having publicly ended his marriage of 42 years in 1993 and announcing he was homosexual. In April 2004, he “ married ” his partner in a ceremony attended by his nine-year-old grandson. The Rainbow Sash Movement, which lobbies for the Roman Catholic Church to give its homosexual and transgendered members Holy Communion, says it is “encouraged” that Archbishop George Hugh Niederauer ma

11 UK Catholic adoption agency forced closed by pro gay laws

LEEDS, United Kingdom , May 4, 2011 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The UK’s First-Tier Tribunal of the Charity Commission rejected an appeal last week by Catholic Care, the last Catholic adoption agency in the country, to change its constitution to exclude homosexuals from adopting children . Catholic Care’s fight with the law has been ongoing since the passage of the Sexual Orientations Regulations in 2007.   Eleven Catholic adoption agencies chose to fight that law, which prohibited “discrimination” based upon sexual orientation; however, all but Catholic Care have now either closed their doors or severed ties with the Catholic Church. Following  a ruling  by the Charity Commission last summer, rejecting their proposed amendments, Catholic Care filed an appeal in September 2010 arguing that the amendment to their constitution was in fact justified by a provision in the Equality Act 2010 that allows a charitable organization to restrict benefits if it is “a proportionate means of achiev

Evangelicals disappointed at lack of Catholic leadership on homosexuality push in Ontario schools

Image via Wikipedia Evangelicals have expressed disappointment at the apparent collapse of the Ontario Catholic Church in the face of pressure from homosexual activists, who successfully lobbied a Catholic school board last week to scrap a pro-family equity policy that included explicit wording to prevent instruction that undermines Church teaching on homosexuality. “It seems to me that [the Roman Catholic Church ] is being co-opted before our very eyes, as illustrated by this recent event,” said Royal Hamel, an Evangelical minister.  “I view this with no small degree of alarm, ... because the Roman Catholic is one of the last few remaining bulwarks against the deluge.” Phil Lees, a Protestant who leads Ontario’s Family Coalition Party and runs Public Education Advocates for Christian Equality ( PEACE ), which aims to help families make faith-based educational choices, said the Halton Catholic board’s collapse is a blow to traditional families in the public system. Don't Ask Don't Tell and the Catholic Church

Image by Catholic Church (England and Wales) via Flickr Yesterday, our Commander in Chief – the man whose most central oath is to strengthen and defend our country and its military – signed into law an action that will do more to damage U.S. military strength than any bombs or tanks of our enemies. With all due respect to separation of Church and State , the U.S. military could learn some valuable lessons from the Roman Catholic Church .          The combat forces of the U.S. military, like the Catholic priesthood , have always been built on a distinctly masculine bond of obligation. Both bands of brothers gather to protect something Sacred. The  priestly gathering is most visible  whenever two or more gather around the altar to celebrate Mass, with Jesus Christ in the Eucharist , at the Sacred Center.          Just as the military bands together in its collective duty to protect the nation and her citizens, so the priestly fraternity bands together in its duty to spiritually p
