Immoral Homosexual ‘marriage’ arrives in Minnesota and Rhode Island. Expect anti-Christian bias

Image
August 1 marked the first day of legalized same-sex “marriages” in Minnesota and Rhode Island , after both states’ legislatures passed laws redefining marriage to include homosexual couples last spring. That brings to 13 the number of U.S. states that have redefined marriage, along with the District of Columbia. In Minnesota, Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed August 1 “ Freedom to Marry Day ,” and homosexuals started lining up outside government offices the evening before to be among the first to take advantage of the new law. At midnight, Minneapolis’s City Hall was packed with about 1,000 people who came to witness Governor Dayton, Mayor R.T. Rybak, and a handful of Hennepin County judges “marry” 67 gay and lesbian couples. In Rhode Island, there was no such fanfare. Municipal offices opened as usual at 8:30 a.m., and both homosexual activists and county clerks told local media they weren’t expecting a rush on marriage licenses. Since same-sex nuptials are already legal in a

The Government-Sponsored Tyranny of Gay Marriage

Image
In France, young people are gathering regularly to sing and pray for marriage. In Nantes, they gather at the foot of the Cross of Charette, where a famous French hero was executed in 1796. In Great Britain , David Cameron 's push for gay marriage has left his Conservative party in electoral tatters, as local elections this week proved. (From the Iron Lady to the Rubber Man in just two decades!) Here in the United States , Delaware and Minnesota both redefined marriage, making a mockery in the latter state of the voters who were told there was no need to pass a marriage amendment because there was no threat to marriage. Hard losses, yes, but the fight goes on—and not just in Illinois and the vast majority of other states that still protect marriage. Bishop Thomas Tobin of Rhode Island has just  published a letter  to faithful Rhode Island Catholics, inviting them (and I think all of us) "to a moment of prayer and reflection as we respond to this new challenge of t

Rhode Island to become 10th state to allow immoral homosexual 'marriage'

PROVIDENCE, RI, April 26, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Rhode Island is poised to become the 10 th state to approve same-sex “marriage.” The Rhode Island State Senate Wednesday voted 26-12 in favor of a bill redefining marriage to include homosexual couples. The vote came after the House overwhelmingly approved the measure in January, and after Senate President Teresa Paiva-Weed , a Democrat who opposes same-sex “marriage,” nonetheless allowed the bill to come to the floor for a vote. The bill will now go back to the House for a perfunctory vote before being forwarded to Gov. Lincoln Chafee for his signature. The governor has previously expressed his support for the bill. Gov. Lincoln Chafee Once signed, the bill will take effect August 1. After that date, civil unions will no longer be available to same-sex couples in Rhode Island, only marriage. However, the state will continue to recognize existing civil partnerships that have been formed since the state approved civ

Rhode Island governor ‘acting as a dictator’ with same-sex ‘marriage’ executive order, foes say

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND , May 17, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee ’s critics are accusing him of “acting as a dictator” after signing an executive order forcing the state to recognize same-sex “marriages” conducted out-of-state. Chafee, a former Republican U.S. Senator who changed his party affiliation to independent,  signed the order  on Monday.  Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee's father, John, was a U.S. Senator, too. The measure forces Rhode Island to legally recognize the same-sex “marriages” of couples who have a ceremony conducted in another state, where such unions are recognized. The decree  entitles  partners to full insurance coverage, the right to list both names as “parents” on birth certificates, and other benefits. “This is another step that gets us further down the path toward same-sex marriage,” said House Speaker Gordon Fox , who is openly homosexual. Fox was present at Chafee’s announcement with Lt. Governor

Rhode Island's gay civil unions: Bishop says, ‘God will … pass judgment upon our state’

Image via Wikipedia “Can there be any doubt that Almighty God will, in His own time and way, pass judgment upon our state, its leaders and citizens, for abandoning His commands and embracing public immorality?”  That was how Providence Bishop Thomas Tobin reacted to today’s passage of legislation approving homosexual civil unions in Rhode Island . The Rhode Island Senate approved the final version of the bill by a vote of 21 to 16. Gov. Lincoln Chafee , who advocated the legalization of homosexual “marriage” in his inaugural address, is expected to sign it into law. The bill was passed by the House in May and made it through the Senate without amendment, despite opposition from both sides of the issue. Homosexual advocacy organizations have objected to the legislation because it includes a provision protecting religious entities, including hospitals and schools, from being forced to recognize the legal standing of same-sex unions. Bishop Thomas Tobin: Civil unions ‘just another name for what would be same-sex marriage’

Image
Image via Wikipedia Civil unions, said Bishop Tobin in a recent interview, are “just another name for what would be same-sex marriage.” “We’ve found invariably whenever civil unions are introduced in a state that is quickly followed by full-fledged gay marriage ,” he  told GoLocalProv in the exclusive interview. Legalizing homosexual “marriage,” the outspoken Providence bishop said, “is an ill-advised attempt to redefine the very basic parameters of marriage” as “one man and one woman … as they’ve existed from the very beginning of mankind.”  True marriage, he said, is “designed to create new life and to encourage the love of the spouses.” Bishop Tobin has been quick to oppose the efforts of legislators in Rhode Island who try to push a homosexual “marriage” agenda.  In January, he  blasted  Governor Lincoln Chafee for his support for gay “marriage.”  Tobin said he had personally contacted ten to twelve lawmakers to express concern and to challenge them to uphold true marriage
