Let me be the first to engage in some bigoted quackery and talk conversion. That is to quote Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, who has announced plans to ban so-called ‘LGBT conversion therapy.’ Speaking on Sunday at Melbourne’s Midsumma Pride March, Andrews vigorously criticized the idea that someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity can be changed, calling it “a most personal form of torture, a cruel practice that perpetuates the idea that LGBTI people are in some way broken.” “We will drag these practices out of the dark ages and into the brightest of lights.” Then he called it “bigoted quackery.” This is at first bewildering for the average Christian reader if only because few have ever heard of something called ‘LGBT conversion therapy.’ It’s a term invented by them, not us. A major new report, published today in the journal The New Atlantis , challenges the leading narratives that the media has pushed regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. Co-authored by two of the nation’s leading scholars on mental health and sexuality, the 143-page report discusses over 200 peer-reviewed studies in the biological, psychological, and social sciences, painstakingly documenting what scientific research shows and does not show about sexuality and gender. Religious schools and bodies could soon find it harder to discriminate against employees because of their sexuality or faith. The Andrews government's revamp of Victorian equal opportunity laws has been condemned as "anti-religious" by faith-based groups, who say it threatens their right to freedom of religion. Religious schools and groups would still be able to discriminate if they could prove that religious beliefs were linked to a job.  The solution to this is for every employees is to do the Cert IV in workplace training and assessment and to teach the traditional Christian faith. In order to teach the Christian faith they must declare they are traditional Christians who adhere completely to scripture and prove evidence of Church attendance signed by their pastor. This would be a mandatory component of employment. Gay and lesbian couples are now allowed to adopt children in Victoria. Adopted abandoned children will now be joined to disordered couples who will bring their sinful immoral influence over these children. From Thursday, all couples will be able to adopt regardless of their sexuality or gender identity under changes to the Adoption Amendment (Adoption by Same-Sex Couples) Act 2015.
