Mexico City bans treatment for unwanted LGBT attraction, threatens 5-year jail sentence

Treatment to help overcome unwanted homosexual tendencies will soon be illegal in Mexico City under a new law enacted Friday by the city’s Legislative Assembly.  Under the legislation, which was first introduced two years ago, healthcare practitioners could spend up to five years in prison for conducting  “practices consisting of psychological, psychiatric sessions, methods or treatments that are intended to nullify, hinder, modify or impair the expression of gender identity, as well as the sexual orientation of people,” Mexico News Daily reported. Such treatments are commonly known as reparative or “conversion” therapy. THE BLIND PRO-LBGT ZEALOTS VIEW “There is nothing to cure. Homosexuality is not a disease, we are not sick,” declared the bill’s author, Morena party lawmaker Temístocles Villanueva.  I totally agree. It seems to me that these measures belong to the era of the Inquisition,” added Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum. “It does not correspond to the health sy

Pastor tells trans activist: Gay ‘rights’ are ‘false rights’

The transsexual known as Diana Sanchez, whose biological sex is male and is a political figure in Mexico City ’s leftist party PRD , wrote a letter to Mexico ’s Churches, on July 29 demanding he and other pastors “obey” the Pope in “abstaining from discriminating and judging homosexuals.” Referring to the recent marches that have taken place across the country in favor of the right to life and the protection of natural marriage, the activist demanded that all pastors be investigated and “punished” when they “promote discrimination against citizens based on their sexual orientation” and “allowed and encouraged homophobic attacks.” He especially mentioned a particular pastor, whose city saw 80,000 marchers take to the streets on July 25. The activist argued that the decriminalization of abortion, which has been legal in Mexico City since 2007, and the recent legalization of “marriage” between persons of the same sex have been a “good for the population.” The Pastors ans

Tens of thousands take to street in Mexican cities to protest gay ‘marriage’ decision

Image
Tens of thousands took to the streets of major Mexican cities under the slogan “ Mexico is One for the Children,” to ask the government to respect state constitutions that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman, after a recent Supreme Court ruling legalized same-sex unions throughout the country. “We are not against any person, we are against this Supreme Court imposition,” said Sofia Miranda, one of the organizers, in an open letter to media who were criticizing the cause. This, she continued, “opens the door to gender ideology and will destabilize our society and damage our children. This is what we don’t want.” Marchers were also asking their parental rights be recognized, as Congress is seeking to pass a national law which will “guarantee the access to contraceptive methods” without parental consent to all girls.  The law also states all children have a “right to intimacy,” they should not be discriminated against on the basis of their “sexual preferen

Mexico conference on overcoming same-sex attractions takes place in new venue

Image
MEXICO CITY , February 14, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A Mexico conference that was cancelled last week for offering therapy to people with unwanted same-sex attraction was held this past Wednesday in a different venue. The conference, initially titled “How to love correctly,” by self-described ex-homosexual Richard Cohen was to take place in a Catholic school in the city of Monterrey, Mexico . It was cancelled because, according to Cohen, “the parents and students of the Labastida School were repeatedly harassed by gay and lesbian activists when coming in and out of the school.” “The school was traumatized by the constant harassment so they had to cancel my conference,” he said to a local newspaper. The Mexican Center for Psycho-traumatism, which organized the event, decided to host the conference in the Palestinian-Lebanese Club instead, not far from the original venue and with the new title of “Understanding, learning and loving.” Local media report a turnout of o

In an email to the Mexican newspaper El Norte, Richard Cohen, who organized the “How to Love Correctly” conference, wrote: “This is an evident denial of our human right of free speech and free expression.” He said that he “won’t allow for a few who fear my message to stop others who seek to find hope,” and added that if he didn’t find another place for his conference he will “stand in the street and give my talk.” The conference, sponsored by the Mexican Center for Psycho-traumatism, was to be held on February 12 in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon , in Mexico, at the Labastida School, a Catholic institution run by the Daughters of Mary Immaculate of Guadalupe. The event’s organizers have offered to reimburse ticket holders. In the email to El N

Socialist Uruguay on road to homosexual and transsexual 'marriage'

Image
December 19, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - The Uruguayan Chamber of Deputies overwhelmingly voted last week to approve a bill that would make “marriage” a legal right for homosexual couples and for transsexuals as well, according to local media reports. The text of the bill states that “the institution of matrimony will include the union of two contracting parties, whatever their gender identity or sexual orientation, on the same terms, with equal effects and forms of solution that the Civil Code currently establishes.” President José Mujica . A large number of “conservative” Colorado Party members voted with the dominant socialist Broad Front to pass the legislation with 81 out of 87 members present voting in favor, and 12 members absent. The legislation will now pass to the Senate, where it is also expected to be approved. President José Mujica, also a Broad Front socialist, has already indicated his intention to sign.  If he does so, Uruguay will become the second

Mexican Supreme Court declares heterosexual marriage law “unconstitutional”

Image
MEXICO CITY , December 7, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - The First Chamber of Mexico’s Supreme Court of Justice has ruled unanimously that a law of the state of Oaxaca defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman is “unconstitutional,” claiming that “it offends the auto-determination of people and the right to free development of their personality.” The ruling is the first step in the process of creating a precedent that would be binding on the whole federal court system , and could ultimately mandate the creation of homosexual “marriage” throughout Mexico’s 31 states. Currently, homosexual “marriage” is only officially recognized in Mexico’s ultra-leftist Federal District , also known as Mexico City, where the killing of the unborn on demand is legal and state subsidized during the first twelve weeks of pregnancy as well. However, the unanimity of the ruling, which included conservative judge Jorge Mario Pardo in addition to the two others making up the chambe

Mexican Supreme Court says states have no right to sue against homosexual ‘marriage’

Image
MEXICO CITY , January 25, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - The Mexican Supreme Court ruled this week in a 7-4 vote that the states of Jalisco and Baja California do not have a legitimate legal interest in their suit challenging Mexico City ’s homosexual “marriage” law , which also allows same-sex couples to adopt children. The two states sued on the grounds that the Mexico City law, by way of the Constitution’s “full faith and credit” clause, requires them to accept homosexual marriages and adoptions within their own jurisdictions, despite the fact that the states do not recognize homosexual “marriage.” Mexico's Supreme Court Six out of 11 justices signed a decision yesterday claiming that the states have no basis for suits against the law because they are not required to change their own laws. However, Luna Ramos, one of four judges who dissented from the majority decision, observed that the Supreme Court’s previous decision requires other states to accept laws that run contrary

Archbishop decries homosexual ‘marriage,’ says western world has become ‘mission territory’

Image
Image via Wikipedia The archbishop emeritus of the Argentinean diocese of Resistencia says that Argentina should be understood as “mission territory” for the Catholic Church following the legalization of homosexual “marriage” by the national congress. “Sixty-five years ago, the archbishop of Paris surprised the Church with his pastoral letter ‘ France : Mission Country?’   As the years have gone by, that question has become an affirmation.  And it is valid not only for France.   All of the West is mission territory today,” said Archbishop Carmelo Juan Giaquinta in a recent homily published by the Argentinean Catholic news agency AICIA. “Argentina is also today a mission country.  A country, where from night to morning, and without almost anyone joking about it, unions between homosexuals are being equated to marriage according to nature, given by God to men and women, cannot call itself Christian,” said Giaquinta. “The first Gospel is the nature with which God created us. Cardinal refuses to withdraw statement

Image via Wikipedia The Cardinal Archbishop of Mexico City is refusing to retract his statements condemning homosexual behavior , despite a complaint filed against him with the federal government 's National Council to Prevent Discrimination (Contrapred). Multiple complaints before various government agencies were filed in August against Rivera, his spokesman Hugo Valdemar, and Cardinal Juan Sandoval Iñiguez by Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard and fellow members of the socialist Party of the Democratic Revolution in response to statements they made denouncing the homosexualist and abortionist policies of the Mexico City government and the nation's Supreme Court . The complaint filed against Rivera with Contrapred is based on his statement denouncing the Supreme Court's approval of homosexual "marriage," calling it an "immoral legal reform," and declaring that the Catholic Church "cannot cease to call evil, evil."  "Such immoral activ
