Homosexual Reparative Therapy works

Image
There is a movement to crush those who offer therapy to persons struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction .  What are your thoughts as to why there is such opposition to this kind of therapy? Sciambra:  There is opposition to gay- reparative therapy because [born-this-way gay advocates] know deep-down that it works. Very good reparative therapy excavates the root causes which brought forth homosexual desires in the person. For the most part, these incidents are embedded in early-childhood traumas. When a therapist is able to dig down and reveal these traumas, they no longer have the same power over the person that they once did. At that point, relationships can be mended and new healthy friendships can be fostered.  Related articles WATCH: Right-Wing 'Documentary' Tries to Defend 'Ex-Gay' Therapy (advocate.com) From gay porn star to redeemed brother in Christ (deaconforlife.blogspot.com) Loose your child if taken to homosexual reparative therapy? September 24, 2012 ( pjSaunders ) - Should people with unwanted feelings of same-sex attraction seek professional help? And if so what kind of help and what expectations should they realistically have? BBC Religion and Ethics recently published an article on this extremely controversial subject titled ‘ Ex-gay survivor’s tales of exorcism in middle England ’. I was asked to submit a quote for it yesterday but was unable to obtain any information about what angle the author would be writing it from. So I sent in four carefully drafted sentences of which they used only the one that most closely fitted with their agenda. The article relates the story of Peterson Toscano , who ‘after $30,000 for controversial conversion therapy, three attempts at exorcism and one failed marriage, finally resolved the conflict between his faith and sexuality - he was gay’. At the end there are some comments from Peter Ould and myself (see Peter’s take  here ). Toscano’s case highlights th

E nglish: Gender symbols, sexual orientation: heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality. Česky: (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Homosexuality is not a genetically-determined ,unchangeable trait. Dr. Francis Collins , Director of the Genome Project , has stated that while homosexuality may be genetically influenced, it is “… not hardwired by DNA , and (that) whatever genes are involved represent predispositions, not predetermination[s].” He also states that “…the prominent role of individual free will choices have a profound effect on us.”1 Homosexual attraction is determined by a combination of familial, environmental, social and biological influences. Inheritance of predisposing personality traits may play a role for some. Consequently, homosexual attraction is changeable. Contrary to the “born that way” myth, the scientific evidence links homosexuality to social and parental influences… combined in varying degrees with biological predisposition in some people. Apple Yanks Another Conservative App

Image via Wikipedia Apple has pulled another Christian application from its online store. This time, the "offender" was Exodus International which was trying to share the hope of Jesus Christ with those struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction . Exodus offers compassion and help for people who  choose to seek it. In October, Apple approved and posted a Manhattan Declaration app on its online store giving it a 4+ rating for "no objectionable content." The document statement affirms the sanctity of human life, marriage as defined by the union of one man and one woman, and religious liberty and freedom of conscience. Nearly 500,000 people have signed the declaration. The app was yanked from the Apple site over Thanksgiving weekend because it held a biblical worldview of marriage which is objectionable to certain groups. Apple also gave the Exodus app a 4+ rating before pulling it. Complaints from the homosexual community caused Apple to pull the app. Apple
