Liberal columnist: New Yorkers should boycott Chick-fil-A because it’s ‘creepy’ and Christian

Image
In a piece that quickly went viral on social media for its blatant disdain of anything remotely Christian , a New Yorker columnist called on Manhattan residents to resist Chick-fil-A ’s “creepy infiltration” of the city. Dan Piepenbring’s Friday article is a reaction to the popular Christian restaurant chain opening a fourth location in the area last month, with plans to open up to a dozen more. He describes New Yorkers as overwhelmingly embracing Chick-fil-A, with its latest location seeing customers line up “almost to the end of the block” and another location estimating that it sells one sandwich every six seconds. This, Piepenbring writes, comes despite the fact that the chain “does not quite belong here.” Chief among its allegedly out-of-place qualities is Chick-fil-A’s “pervasive Christian traditionalism.” Its locations don’t open on Sundays, its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia displays religious imagery such as Bible verses and a Jesus statue, and it lists “to glorif

Are people born transgender?

Image
Two recent headlines proclaim, " Transgender people are  born that way , a new study has found," and "Scientists uncover  20 genes  linked to being transgender – supporting claims the condition has a physical basis." What are we to make of this? Before we evaluate these announcements, it's important that we understand that we are not discussing the question of people who are  intersex , referring to those who have a biological or chromosomal abnormality in terms of their sex. By definition, people who are intersex are born that way. It's also important that we remember the many sensational headlines that proclaimed that a gay gene (or the like) had been discovered. Every few years, a new "discovery" would be made about "proving" that people are born gay, only to be replaced by the latest "discovery," none of which proved definitive. Back in February 1992, a  cover story  for  Newsweek  featured the face of an infa

Looking for ‘anti-trans bigotry’ in all the wrong places - when journalist lie

Image
Anti-trans bigotry exists. It's wrong, and we should all condemn it. I condemn it in my new book " When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment ." But we lose the ability to effectively call out bigotry when all disagreement is condemned as bigoted – and when lies are told in the process. That's what happened earlier this week in a  New York Times op-ed . Jennifer Finney Boylan , a contributing opinion writer for the Times, and a professor of English at Barnard College of Columbia University , told several bald-faced lies about my work. I'm surprised the editors published it. For the record, Boylan never contacted me regarding my research or my book. Nor did the Times contact me to verify any of the claims made about me in the column. Boylan claims I wrote "a book that suggests that transgender people are crazy, and that what we [people who identify as transgender ] deserve at every turn is scorn, contempt, and belittlement.&q

No, God is not transgender

Image
In what has to be a new low for the New York Times , the Gray Lady (or should we now say the Bearded Lady ?) has published an op-ed piece titled “ Is God Transgender? ” by a New York rabbi named Mark Sameth. Cousin to a man who “transitioned to a woman” in the 1970s, Sameth contends that “the Hebrew Bible, when read in its original language, offers a highly elastic view of gender.” He marshals many purported examples of gender fluidity in the Hebrew scriptures , in order to argue that religion should not be put in service of “social prejudices” against transgendering. But his treatment of the Bible amounts to propaganda, not scholarship. Proposing that the God of Israel was worshipped originally as “a dual-gendered deity,” the rabbi asserts, untenably, that the etymological derivation of Yahweh is “He/She” (HUHI). His argument requires that the Tetragrammaton be read, not from right to left (as Hebrew always is), but from left to right: The four-Hebrew-letter name of God, whi

Gay ‘marriage’ study faked data to help homosexual activists

Image
A December 2014 study alleged that homosexual activists, in a twenty-minute conversation, can change the minds of those who oppose redefining marriage. Six months later, the data to support the study has been revealed as fraudulent, and the study itself has been retracted. Titled " When contact changes minds : An experiment on transmission of support for gay equality," the study claimed that homosexual activists canvassing door-to-door in favor of redefining marriage could convert the people they spoke with – and that the interlocutors' epiphanies would not only last for a year, but also inspire members of their households to favor redefining marriage as well. The study, published in Science magazine, was conducted by Columbia University political science professor Donald Green and UCLA grad student Michael LaCour. Green initiated the retraction after discovering that LaCour's work comprised "an incredible mountain of fabrications with the most baroque and

Priest speaks out against diocese’s controversial ‘transgender’ school policy

Image
The Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City, Missouri , is opening a can of worms that  contradicts Church teaching  and sends the wrong message with its  proposed policy  encouraging enrollment of “ transgender ” students at its schools, one of its priests said. The diocese ’s  Pastoral Process of Accompaniment and Dialogue invites people who actively promote gender confusion or the homosexual lifestyle to test the policy, the priest said, and gives undue credence to those living in objectively sinful or disordered situations. The policy also demonstrates an allegiance to political correctness and liberal ideology, he continued, and also shows there is too much homosexuality in Church leadership today, whether it’s bishops who are gay-friendly or who themselves are homosexual. “I think the whole gender ideology and transgender issue is false,” Father Richard Frank said. “It’s falsehood. And it really contradicts what the Church teaches. It’s kind of like opening the door to t
