LONDON , October 9, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The popular gay actor Rupert Everett has told British media that he has received several death threats for his comments opposing the government’s plans to create gay “marriage.” “I’ve now had all this hate mail and there have been death threats, too,” Everett told the Daily Telegraph , Sept. 30th.  Rupert Everett “All the queens out there now have it in for me,” the 53 year-old actor said. “I’m loathed by them. I’m having to take evasive action.” Everett  came under fire  from the homosexual community after he told an interviewer with the Sunday Times Magazine that he could not think of “anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads.” In response to the tidal wave of criticism from homosexuals and celebrities, Everett asked for an interview with the Guardian’s Decca Aitkenhead to “explain what he meant.” Everett clarified that he “loathes” heterosexual weddings and thinks the entire institution “just a wast

British actor Rupert Everett says he “can’t think of anything worse” than two gay men bringing up a child together—an opinion that is probably held by vast numbers of people who would not dare to say so in public. But, thanks to the magic shield of celebrity, actors can get away with speech “crimes” that the rest of us would (metaphorically) hang for. Rupert Everett. His comments on gay parenting were made in an interview with the  Sunday Times Magazine last weekend (alas,  The Times  is only accessible to paid subscribers so we rely on  The Telegraph  here). Everett, probably best know for his role as a gay man in the 1997 film  My Best Friend’s Wedding , says his mother, Sara, who was also interviewed for the article, “still wishes I had a wife and kids. She thinks children need a father and a mother, and I agree with her. I can’t th

Now Rupert Everett finds himself in a somewhat less enviable position. The 53-year-old actor has been rounded on by gay rights groups after saying: "I can’t think of anything worse that being brought up by two gay dads." Everett’s comments are likely to offend celebrity parents such as Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish . The couple have a 21-month-old son Zachary, born to a surrogate mother. Ben Summerskill , chief executive of the gay rights group Stonewall, said: "Rupert should get out a little bit more to see the facts for himself. "There is absolutely no evidence that the kids of gay parents suffer in the way they are being brought up or in how they develop.’ However, this denial fails in the face the the Regernus study which has been vil
