Is Homosexual Orientation Sinful?

Does the Bible condemn homosexual orientation as sin? Ask Kevin: Is Homosexual Orientation Sinful? from Crossway on Vimeo . The Bible is somewhat ambiguous about orientation as such, only because that language is a relatively new language. So you are not going to find a specific verse that talks about orientation. What the Bible does say clearly is that to perform same-sex acts—to engage in homosexual practice or behavior—is sin. What the Bible does say clearly is that to perform same-sex acts—to engage in homosexual practice or behavior—is sin. Leviticus says that a man should not lie with a man as with a woman. In Romans, Paul talks about exchanging natural relationships—men with women—for unnatural ones with persons of the same gender. In 1 Corinthians 6 and 1 Timothy 1—a vice list of sins—one of the sins mentioned is men who practice homosexuality. So the emphasis clearly is on the consciously chosen activity of homosexual intimacy. What does that say about orient

Parents have a right to send kids to counselling

Leading "no" campaigner in Australia's same-sex marriage survey, Lyle Shelton , says parents should have the option to send their kids to gay conversion therapy . Shelton, who is the managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), said that while he did not think adults should be forced into conversion therapy, it was up to parents as to whether their children should be counselled about same-sex attraction. "I think anyone who wants to seek help for any issue they might be facing in their life should be free to do that," he said. "Should people be forced to go to conversion therapy? No, absolutely not. Now, children — they are under the care and responsibility of their parents, so I think if someone's a minor, it is up to their parents. And I think parental rights should be respected. "There's obviously got to be context and care and compassion in all of these situations, but ultimately children are in the care and the legal res

To condemn same sex sin - freedom today is to condemn one of the nation’s favorite altars of worship

More and more commentators are saying that we have passed the tipping point on same-sex marriage in the United States . Almost daily another politician or public figure stands before a microphone to declare his or her support. It feels like the dam has burst; the paradigm shifted. Whether or not same sex marriage is a political  fait accompli ,  I don’t know. What concerns me in the present hour is the temptation among Christians to go with the flow. The assumption is that the nation no longer shares our morality, and that we must not impose our views on others and blur the line between church and state . Besides, we don’t want to let any political cantankerousness get in the way of sharing the gospel, right? So we might as well throw in our lot. So the thinking goes. How hard Christians should actively fight against same-sex marriage is a matter for wisdom. But that we must not support it, I would like to persuade you, is a matter of biblical principle. To vote for it

Science: Homosexual Orientation - doesn't exist

'Sexuality and Gender: Findings From the Biological, Psychological and Social Sciences' This study, conducted by world renowned Johns Hopkins University scientists Dr. Lawrence S. Mayer and Dr. Paul R. McHugh, is a meta-analysis of data from over 200 peer-reviewed (and left-leaning) studies regarding "sexual orientation" and "gender identity." It was published in the fall 2016 edition of The New Atlantis journal and is, far and away, the most objective, exhaustive and comprehensive study on the topic to date. The research established, among other things: o "The understanding of sexual orientation as an innate, biologically fixed property of human beings—the idea that people are 'born that way'—is not supported by scientific evidence." o "Sexual orientation" in adolescents is "fluid over the life course for some people, with one study estimating that as many as 80 percent of male adolescents who report same-sex att

Research: Sexual Orientation

Sexual Orientation  Lawrence S. Mayer ,   Paul R. McHugh While some people are under the impression that sexual orientation is an innate, fixed, and biological trait of human beings — that, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual, we are “born that way” — there is insufficient scientific evidence to support that claim. In fact, the concept of sexual orientation itself is highly ambiguous; it can refer to a set of behaviors, to feelings of attraction, or to a sense of identity. Epidemiological studies show a rather modest association between genetic factors and sexual attractions or behaviors, but do not provide significant evidence pointing to particular genes.  There is also evidence for other hypothesized biological causes of homosexual behaviors, attractions, or identity — such as the influence of hormones on prenatal development — but that evidence, too, is limited. Studies of the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals have found some differences, but have not
