Pastor Ed Young of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas, stated that society is treading on "thin ice" after President Barack Obama declared his support for same-sex marriage.

Christian leaders across the nation have voiced their opinions on the president's comments, emphasizing that the Bible defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Pastor Young made his views known Thursday by calling in to Dr. Drew Pinsky's "On Call" show on HLN.

"I totally disagree with our president. I believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman, in this commitment and covenant ordained by God. So, I disagree with what he says," Young began.

Prompted by Dr. Drew, he went on to elaborate his views:

"I believe people have a choice. They can do whatever they want to do. However, I really believe that it all starts with God, our country was founded on these principles, and as a person who teachers Scripture, I've got to say, over and over, it's one man and one woman.

"I think when society begins to call marriage as something other than one man, one woman, in my Biblical opinion, we are beginning to tread on thin ice," he warned.

Dr. Drew then asked the Fellowship Church leader if it would be acceptable for a same-sex couple to be together if one partner undergoes a sex-change and becomes a woman.

The Texas preacher explained that the Bible teaches that the rights of everyone should be protected, but insisted that marriage specifically cannot be defined as anything other than between one man and one woman.

The Texas pastor acknowledged that some rare medical conditions that Dr. Drew mentioned may blur the line between the biological definition of a male and a female, but said, "Generally speaking, and biblically speaking, in most circumstances and situations it would be [to follow] what the Bible says."
