Transgender weightlifter's injury exit may be a blessing in disguise - but it is still cheating

The New Zealand athlete, Gavin Hubbard, who now pretends he is a she, and calls himself Laurel Hubbard, was to have competed today in a weightlifting event. But an elbow injury has meant he was forced to withdraw from competing. And that is a good thing too.

Born in New Zealand in 1978, he lived as a biological birth male until his early thirties as Gavin, the child of a former mayor of Auckland. Then he decided to transition to become female and to compete as an elite athlete using her reassigned gender. Totally unfair! This doesn't work the other way.

The upshot? A labyrinthine legal and ethical mess, for which the Commonwealth Games offer just a fleeting platform. Come the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Gavin Hubbard is likely to present such an insoluble dilemma for those who support hte non-scientific view of transgenderism.. Here in Australia, he didn't escaped a full trial in the court of public opinion by dubious virtue of injuring himself.

Just as Hubbard tried to perform a snatch lift of 132kg, which threatened to set a mark that none of her rivals could hope to emulate, her elbow dislocated, bringing her moment under the cameras' glare to a gruesome end.

The sadness of Hubbard's story is that his premature exit could easily be seen as a mercy. A gold medal, which looked his to seize after he lifted a weight 7kg heavier than his nearest genuine female challenger at the first attempt, only risked magnifying his pariah status.

"Her expected success and potential to inspire has led to a push in New Zealand for Hubbard to be given the honour of carrying the Kiwi flag and lead the team into the stadium during the Games’ closing ceremony." Um, folks, he is a he! Stop the fantasyland madness please. Simply growing your hair and wearing a dress does not magically make a guy a female.

The essential problem with Hubbard is the amount of residual benefit she carries from living the majority of her life as a man.

On average, men outperform women in weightlifting and other strength events by as much as 25 per cent, courtesy of bigger lungs, stronger bones and greater muscle mass.

The athletic advantage that Hubbard has herself gleaned suggests as much. As a man, the Kiwi scarcely registered in the sport at international level. Today, as a woman, she is a world-beater, having already broken Commonwealth records and won a silver medal at her maiden world championships.

NOW BRING IN THE IDIOTS

Still, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) allowed her to perform in Gold Coast, upholding its credo of "fairness, non-discrimination and inclusion".

Coaches of her opponents mutter, though, that Hubbard's presence among their number is anything but fair. Jerry Wallwork, the head coach of Samoa's weightlifting team, correctly said what most Australians and Gold Coast viewers were thinking:

"A man is a man and a woman is a woman. I know a lot of changes have gone through, but Laurel used to be a male weightlifter. The strength is still there, and for all females it's unfair. The situation may have been accepted, but won't stop us from protesting, regardless of whether it's against one of our athletes or not."
The effects of such a backlash upon Hubbard have been profound. Voices in the New Zealand camp describe him as highly introverted, averse to talking to others. He did not even travel to Queensland with the rest of the team. Why because everybody knows this is a mental health issue pretending to be normla. The person doesn't know who they are.

Take the view of Michael Keelan, chief executive of the Australian weightlifting federation, who argued:

"Weighting has always been a gender-specific sport, male and female, not a competition among individuals of various levels of testosterone. This is not a mixed sport, This is either male or female. That is the problem as transgenderism doesn't work bot ways in this sport. No female pretending to be a male would ever enter the male weightlifting competition. It only works one way and it is wrong, unfair even foolish."

Hubbard is patently hurt by the sense that she is now ostracised, and there are few guarantees that she will ever be happy with the body she now inhabits.

But that is the transgender fault line - John Hopkins hosital stopped these transition practices realing that after transitions it didn't work as it is a mental health issue, and changing the body design doesn't help.

What about the rights of those whose chances of gold are far diminished with her/him in the field? Unfair! Yes this should not happen again.

I for one am glad that Hubbard had to pull out of the Commonwealth Games. But this issue is far from over. It is time that some sanity and reality comes back into professional sports. If not, we will see the end of women’s sports, and perhaps the death of some key female athletes. All because nutjob ideology and loony tune social and sexual activism have taken over reality.
