Homosexuality is fornication

Fornication, a generic term for illicit sexual activity. In the Hebrew Bible, sexual misconduct includes seduction of a virgin, rape, sodomy, bestiality, incest, prostitution, and homosexual acts (cf. Lev. 18; 19:20–22, 29; 20:10–21).

The specific sin of adultery tends to be treated separately from these offenses, perhaps because it related to marriage and was considered more serious, or at least in need of special legislation. Similarly, in the NT, almost any form of sexual activity outside the marriage relationship can be designated as fornication or “immorality” (cf. 1 Cor. 6:9; 2 Cor. 12:21; Eph. 5:5; Col. 3:5; 1 Thess. 4:3; 1 Tim. 1:10; Heb. 13:4; Jude 7).
