Ex-gay families ask government take down links to websites demeaning ex-gays

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 18, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) - Today, Parents of Friends and Ex- Gays (PFOX) sent a letter to the Obama administration’s Center for Disease Control to remove links and references to websites that “spread intolerance” of “ex-gays” and Christians who support the religious testimony of former homosexuals.

Some of the organizations market the homosexual lifestyle to children as young as 13. Among the anti-ex-gay organizations linked to is PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), which openly denigrates former homosexuals. One of them, the anti-ex-gay publication Just the Facts, explicitly targets Christian ex-gay ministries.

PFOX is also asking President Obama, who appointed those responsible for this website, to intervene.

According to PFOX director Regina Briggs, the CDC website does not present “complete factual information to youth and parents” and “sends the wrong message that unpopular sexual minorities like former homosexuals are not entitled to safety or respect.”

“The CDC is engaging in sexual orientation bias against disfavored groups,” writes Griggs.

“PFOX asks CDC Director Thomas Frieden to adopt the standards utilized by the Office of Adolescent Health, Department of Health and Human Services, and provide website links that are factually oriented, relevant to adolescent health, non-partisan, free from bias and prejudice, and do not take an advocacy position,” Griggs writes.
