Same Sex marriage threatens other's freedom

Image
It was disappointing to see the Shadow Attorney General assert that same-sex marriage posed no threat to other peoples’ freedoms, Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Lyle Shelton said today. “Sadly the idea that redefining marriage and freedom for those who disagreed were “unrelated” had no basis in reality both overseas and here in Australia . Mr Dreyfus made the comments the Freedom for Faith conference in Melbourne yesterday. “There is a long list of people in the US, UK and Canada who have been fined, hauled before courts and demonised out of their jobs for their belief that marriage is between one man and one woman,” Mr Shelton said. “Here in Tasmania Archbishop Julian Porteous spent six months tied up in legal action before the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commission after Australian Marriage Equality urged people to complain about his teaching on marriage. Mr Shelton said Mr Dreyfus was asked about the Trinity Western Law School in Canada who’s graduates

Australia: Bigotry and hatred has already started - but by whom?

Image
If you disagree with me over lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex politics, you are a homophobe . Disagree with my position on Islam, you are an Islamophobe. If you disagree with me on immigration, you are a xenophobe. Rather than engaging in debate, too many on the Left would rather portray disagreement on totemic issues as grounds for a mental disorder with the sole aim of shutting down any challenge to leftist orthodoxy. The same politics of deriding deplorables is endemic in Australia , especially in the same-sex marriage debate. The Greens and LGBTI activists claim that allowing Australians to decide whether marriage should be redefined would fuel harmful hate speech from same-sex marriage opponents.  Worse, the leaders of Australia’s alternative government succumbed to the lowest of low-rent politics. A plebiscite would lead to suicides, Bill Shorten said. Deputy leader Tanya Plibersek used a young boy named Eddie, the son of a same-sex couple, for politic

Australia: Labor confused over homosexual marriage

Image
These social conservatives, mind you, have played a blinder. They have convinced the cabinet to approve a proposal utterly doomed from its inception. It has absolutely no chance of passing the Senate and that refusal could well pave the way for a delay of several years in any change to the laws on same-sex marriage . This would be a good thing in that the destruction that homosexual marriage brings with it will be clearly seen. The lies, manipulations, false argument, unhealthy destructive behaviour of some homosexuals. The abuse of anybody who stands against anything LGBTQ .  Bill Shorten and many others who support same-sex marriage seem terrified by the prospect of a real public debate on this issue. Australians can be trusted but many of our pollies can't be trusted to conduct a civil discussion on a contentious issue. We saw the confused illogical 'family argument' last week from Labor's deputy. It clearly shows no understanding of what homosexual mar

Australia: Turnbull Error - supporting Homosexual Marriage

Image
The high stakes game of politics over same-sex marriage is now dangerous and unpredictable with the main question being: will the champions of change kill off the Coalition’s plebiscite, thereby denying the main hope of reform in this parliament? That would be a strange and self-defeating step. The tactical and moral issue is immense — it is whether the advocates of same-sex marriage put the means before the end and are so fiercely opposed to a plebiscite that they reject the mandate Malcolm Turnbull won at the election. If parliament votes against the plebiscite bill the pivotal question becomes the assumption on which it acts. Does it act on the honest, upfront admission that, more likely than not, it means same-sex marriage will be delayed for another three years? Former High Court judge Michael Kirby is prepared to accept this price. Indeed, he wrote on this page it is better “that nothing at all were done by the federal parliament on same-sex marriage than that a plebiscite was

Australia: Politician stands by decision to call for same-sex marriage plebiscite in Alliance Defending Freedom address

Image
The ABC Australia  (the Australian Broadcasting Network) is reporting that "Former prime minister Tony Abbott has stood by his decision to call for a plebiscite on same-sex marriage , despite calling the potential change a massive ask". Mr Abbott said whatever the result of the public vote, the subsequent action of the Government would have "authority". He said the decision should be made by the whole people, not just the Parliament . "This is the best way to decide something that's so important but so personal: it's to let the people decide. The decision, whichever way it goes, will have their authority." Mr Abbott made the comments during an address to the US -based Alliance Defending Freedom ( ADF ), which is strongly opposed to same-sex marriage. The "pro-family member of parliament" cited the 17 countries that adopted same-sex marriage, saying more than 175 countries retained the traditional definition. "I know that numbers

Australia: Homosexuality and their new morality

Image
A new censorship has arisen which threatens the right of individuals and groups to dissent from the new morality. Oppose abortion? Unthinkable. Suggest that people who aren't born with wombs but who want to call themselves 'women' aren't actually women? Disgusting. Argue dispassionately that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman? You should be ashamed of yourself. And so we have former PM Tony Abbott being invited to speak to America's Alliance Defending Freedom , which is, to describe it in its own terms, "an alliance-building legal ministry that advocates for the right of people to freely live out their faith", or, to describe it in the terms of the Australian media, a " gay-hate group " - and copping a barrage of outrage. I have found nothing in the ADF literature which could be fairly characterised as "gay hate". What you have to remember is that the American habit of fighting ideological battles through the

Australia in gay ‘marriage’ danger as Prime Minister Tony Abbott is ousted

Image
Photograph of Malcolm Turnbull, New South Wales Liberal politician. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Australia ’s pro- marriage prime minister, Tony Abbott , was ousted today, replaced by Malcolm Turnbull and his deputy Julie Bishop after the second party leadership challenge within a year.  Turnbull won the leadership ballot 54-44.  Both Turnbull and Bishop are supporters of gay “marriage,” with Bishop only declaring her position in recent months. One of the reasons given for the leadership challenge was the fact that the government last 18 successive opinion polls.   It's not clear to what degree those poll results were a reflection of the Australian mainstream media's aggressively negative coverage of Abbott.  The Australian media have been strongly activist in the cause of legalizing same-sex “marriage” in Australia and see Abbott as the obstacle to achieving this goal. The prime minister had also suffered from well-timed leaks, including the claim that there was a

Demonise and censor: the winning strategy of the gay marriage movement

Image
Gay couple at same-sex marriage march San Francisco 2008 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) “Ireland’s tolerant elite now demonise anyone who opposes gay marriage” according to Brendan O’Neill, editor of Spiked magazine . Bernard Keane, political editor at Crikey, tweets his thousands of followers that Lyle Shelton , managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby and opponent of gay marriage, is “ a nauseating piece of filth ” (see tweet published around 10pm 23/05/15). As for me, I am a “bigot” in big red painted letters on the wall of my medical centre this week, courtesy of a local vandal who does not like my opposition to same-sex marriage. But wait, there’s more, according to a staff columnist in the Courier Mail who reminds the state of Queensland that I am not only bigoted but intolerant and “comically homophobic”. I beg to differ , as does my good friend Lyle Shelton and so many others who dare to stand up to the juggernaut of pro-gay intolerance, but it just rolls righ

Australians urged not to accept ‘illiberal’ gay marriage

Image
Two prominent same-sex marriage opponents have stressed that redefining marriage affects society at large, as the debate in Australia continues over changing the law. Brendan O'Neill , the Editor of online magazine Spiked , and marriage campaigner Katy Faust took part in a panel discussion on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Q&A programme. O'Neill detailed the "illiberal" attitude of same-sex marriage advocates and how they have targeted Christians. 'Horrendous' He argued that homosexual marriage presents itself as a liberal civil-rights issue, but that in reality, "it has this really ugly, intolerant streak to it". O'Neill said: "Anyone who opposes gay marriage is demonised, harassed. We've seen people thrown out of their jobs because they criticise gay marriage." He continued: "There are equality cases, shops have closed down, it's like a twenty first century form of religious persecution – it's

Homosexual marriage - referendum vs Plebiscite vs Change Constitution

Image
English: Tony Abbott in 2010. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Any referendum questions on marriage must canvass the consequences of change, allowing a free and open debate, Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Lyle Shelton said today. “This debate can’t continue with television networks like Channel 7 and Channel 10 refusing to run innocuous advertisements putting the other side of the argument,” Mr Shelton said. “The word ‘bigotry’, used again by journalists on social media last night, must be dropped from the public discourse so that there is complete freedom to put the alternative view.” Mr Shelton said the Prime Minister Tony Abbott ’s floating of a referendum or plebiscite next term of Parliament gave breathing space for ordinary Australians to be allowed to know what is at stake. “Any referendum questions must canvass the harms to freedom of speech, religion and conscience raised by the Australian Human Right’s Commission’s ‘freedom commissioner’ Tim Wilson

Richard Di Natale calls genuine research he disagrees with as 'goobly gook."

Image
Gay retired Senator Bob Brown and Richard Di Natale in Melbourne,  (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Listen to Greens Leader Senator Richard Di Natale call genuine social science research : gobbly gook !   Genuine social science research by scientists that have outcomes he doesn't like, so he brands that "goobly gook," but research that supports his position - he says "we have that argument it's finished, no further discussion. Pure ignorance. Natale then generates his own definition of marriage - two people who love each other . He says the debate with kids is over. Now he is an expert? This debate has only started.  Natale holds an unsupported ignorant warped view of marriage.  His personal definition flies in the face of history and is based purely on a small yet very  vocal group .  What is most astonishing is his total disregard of Kathy Faust own personal testimony regarding children of same sex relationships . Natale refuses to hear any argumen

Warren Entsch introduces homosexual marriage bill with warning over 'divided nation' but it will divides anyways

The ABC reports: Government backbencher Warren Entsch has introduced a bill to legalise same-sex marriage in the lower house, despite knowing it is highly unlikely to go to a vote before the next election. In his address to parliament Mr Entsch warned of a "divided nation" unless gay marriage is legalised. "The main purpose of this bill is not a complex one. It is to give same-sex couples in Australia the same right to marry the person they love as that which is currently only granted by law to heterosexual couples," he told the chamber. What Entsch doesn't understand if his legislation is approved the nation will STILL BE DIVIDED "This bill is designed to promote an inclusive Australia, not a divided one. A divided nation is what we will be if we continue to allow discrimination in relation to marriage on the basis of a person's sexuality." Entsch Homosexual marriage bill contains no safeguards for anybody or organization that disagr
