Kevin Donnelly argues against same sex marriage from

Tony Abbott was right to argue in favour of traditional marriage after his party room vote. There are good reasons why people oppose same-sex marriage and the cultural left should understand that, writes Kevin Donnelly. In last night's speech after the majority of Liberal/National MPs voted in favour of the current policy on same-sex marriage, Prime Minister Tony Abbott was right to argue that marriage should be between a man and a woman and that the Australian people should decide if there is to be a change. Those wanting to introduce a private member's bill to change the definition of marriage, such as Liberal MP Warren Entsch , must now realise that the matter is settled until the people decide. This is especially the case as many of the arguments in favour of same-sex marriage are flawed. Those wanting change argue that defining marriage as involving a man and a woman discriminates against lesbians and homosexuals. Ignored is that there are many examples where society

Gay ‘marriage’ set for defeat in Australia despite boost from US ruling

CANBERRA , Australia , August 11, 2015 -- Defenders of natural marriage in Australia have had a stunning ' David vs Goliath ' win against a well-funded pro-same sex “marriage” lobby group that had the active support of the mainstream media and corporate bodies.  After a marathon six-hour party room meeting dedicated to the issue, two-thirds of government MPs have voted to maintain the position of voting as a block along party lines rather than permit members to have a conscience vote on the issue. This means that the coalition government will honour the commitment it went to the election with, to maintain the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.  As a result, the private members' bill put forward by opposition leader Bill Shorten will fail should it come to a vote.  The politicians pushing for same sex “marriage” had rushed to bring their bill forward to take advantage of the political momentum generated by the United States Supreme Court d

Same sex marriage madness becomes intolerant

The same-sex marriage debate entered a new phase of intolerance with Labor voting to expel parliamentarians who advocate man-woman only marriage. In two Parliaments time , Labor MPs and Senators who vote against redefining marriage will be expelled from the party. Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Lyle Shelton said this was devastating for the millions of ethnic, indigenous and religious Australians who will never support a state-imposed redefinition of marriage . “Sadly this is a cynical ploy to force the Coalition to drop its policy on marriage when Labor’s real agenda is one of intolerance to its own who dissent. “If this is the principle Labor forces its people to comply with, what will be the out-working of this principle on dissenters when it is next in power? “Will there be freedom of conscience to choose not to provide services to same-sex weddings ? “Will Christian, Muslim and Jewish schools be allowed to teach children a definition of marriage that the party

Gay Marriage will crush religious freedom

Pro and anti-Proposition 8 protesters rally in front of the San Francisco City Hall as the California Supreme Court holds a session in the to determine the definition of marriage (Strauss v. Horton cases). (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Human Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson ’s call for freedom of conscience to be protected is welcome but does not meet the social justice objections to redefining marriage, the Australian Christian Lobby said today. “It is good that Mr Wilson wants to avoid the overseas experience where florists, cake makers, photographers and wedding chapel owners are being hauled before courts and punished with fines for their belief that marriage is between one man and one woman,” ACL Managing Director Lyle Shelton said. “ACL sincerely thanks Mr Wilson for his good faith in recognising that millions of Australians will always believe the timeless definition of marriage and that they should be shielded from legal action for publicly manifesting their beliefs. “We al

Abbott not allow immoral homosexual marriage in Australia

English: Tony Abbott in 2010. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Prime Minister Tony Abbott must not grant his party room a conscience vote on immoral homosexual marriage if the Liberal party is to remain a "moral shining light for the community", a group of young people in Melbourne say. The Caulfield Young Liberals have moved a motion at this weekend's Liberal State Council that calls upon the Federal Liberal Parliamentary Party to grant MPs a conscience vote on banning immoral marriage legislation. "The Liberal Party has historically been the shining light for moral values in Australian society," they say. "If we are to stay true to these values then, when there are a range of immoral incoherent even ugly divergent views on issues of morality and complex ethical questions, issues that can only be determined by personal conscience, we must not grant a conscience vote." When same-sex marriage was voted on in the federal parliament in September 20

Federal Labor wants to introduce again failed immoral unwanted homosexual marriage

Labor will introduce a private members bill aimed at legalising gay marriage, in a move designed to pressure Prime Minister Tony Abbott into deciding on whether Government MPs will be allowed a conscience vote . This is the 10th attempt in Australia to push the gay zealot agenda. Tony Abbott is to be commended for standing against this horrible form of immorality and sin into Australia. The USA is already showing signs of splintering the community. Forcing business to perform duties against their conscience for homosexual marriages. The USA government has come out and fined business like florist, chapel owners, photographers who in good conscience cannot support immorality being shoved down their throats. Deputy Opposition Leader Tanya Plibersek took the bill to Caucus this morning for approval from her colleagues. Does the opposition have nothing better to do then put up legislation that the Australian people have said a definite NO! The draft legislation is practically the same

Homosexual zealots claim tolerance but attack Cory Bernardi's book 'Conservative Revolution"

"We know the statistics - that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime, nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioural problems, or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it.'' - President Barack Obama , Father's Day speech, 2008. Yes, we do know the statistics. But that hasn't stopped an avalanche of hate - and I use the word advisedly - being unleashed against Cory Bernardi for quoting and echoing the sentiments of Obama in his book  The Conservative Revolution  (Connor Court 2013). The big whisper going around now about Bernardi is that he is gay. The preposterous logic goes like this: Bernardi hates gays, he is obsessed by the subject, which means he is probably a repressed, self-loathing homosexual. Under fire: Cory Bernardi.

Liberal colleagues Cory Bernardi and Dennis Jensen criticise Malcolm Turnbull over immoral homosexual marriage comments

Image
Malcolm Turnbull (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Anger is rising within the Abbott government over Malcolm Turnbull 's advocacy for immoral homosexual marriage, with the Communications Minister publicly criticised by two backbench colleagues. South Australian Senator Cory Bernardi has urged Mr Turnbull to either resign from the frontbench or stop commenting on "fringe issues outside party policy". And West Australian Liberal MP Dennis Jensen said Mr Turnbull's comments on homosexual marriage were "unhelpful" and not befitting a cabinet minister. Mr Turnbull frustrated all of his colleagues when he told an interviewer on Sunday that Australia was getting out of step with similar countries on homosexual marriage. He said Britain, Canada and parts of the US and South Africa had taken steps to allow gay marriage.  Turnbull needs to be told that there are 310 countries in the world with only 13 supporting immoral homosexual marriage. ''So people of

Prime Ministers of Australia against immoral Homosexual Marriage and Gay zealots

English: Tony Abbott in 2010. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Prime Minister Tony Abbott says same-sex couples who married in the ACT knew there was a possibility their marriages would be annulled. Around 30 same-sex couples knowing that this legislation was faulty based on lies from ACT Labor and Greens politicians, were married in Canberra in the five-day window before the ACT's same-sex marriage law were overturned.  On Thursday, the High Court unanimously ruled that the ACT's laws were inconsistent with the Federal Marriage Act and were therefore unconstitutional. The ruling is a victory for the Commonwealth , the nation, thinking people, churches, charities, businesses, logic, morality, children, families and millions of ordinary Australians.  Mr Abbott says his position on the issue has not changed and he remains opposed to gay marriage . At least we have a strong leader, not like Mr Turnbull who is playing to appease both sides of the fence. Abbott correctly
