Now, there is a myth that homosexuals are "born that way," and we are pounded with this idea so thoroughly that many people think that somebody, somewhere, must have proved it. In fact what evidence there is suggests that if there is a genetic component to homosexuality, an entire range of environmental influences are also involved. While there is no scientific research whatsoever that indicates that there is no such thing as a borderline child who could go either way. Those who claim that there is "no danger" and that homosexuals are born, not made, are simply stating their faith. Many slaves paid off their debts to those they owed money, ran households, businesses and often stayed on after the debt was paid. Homosexuals today commonly claim that they cannot help being homosexual. Homosexuality, they argue, is innate: perhaps genetically determined, in any case inescapable. It is what they are. God made them that way. Therefore, they conclude, church and society should accept their homosexuality as natural and normal. Similar questions arise in other areas. Some years ago, it was learned that an abnormally high proportion of men with a “double y” ( XYY ) chromosome engage in anti-social or criminal behavior . Later came the discovery that a certain gene is associated with a relatively high percentage of alcoholics. The LGBT community seem to have a conclusion on the nature / nurture argument that nobody in the scientific community has.... "Being lesbian or gay is not a choice.  It's got nothing to do with culture or parenting skills.  It's just the way you are. You're born that way." This idea that people are born homosexual is popular among the under 30's pop culture, with Lady Gaga , Will & Grace etc, with no scientific thought at all, but seek to redress immoral sinful choices as "born that way."
