Florida bishop suggests same-sex relationships can be ‘marked by holiness’

English: Bytča (Nagybiccse) - mosaic in the catholic church Slovenčina: Bytča - mozaika v katolíckej cirkvi (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Two Florida bishops offered starkly diverging responses this week after their state judiciary redefined marriage. While Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski reminded diocesan employees they could face termination if they publicly suggest support for same-sex “marriage,” St. Petersburg Bishop Robert Lynch suggested in a January 6 Tampa Bay Times  column that homosexual relationships present no risk to the Church, and in fact can be godly and elevate society and the Church. “I do not wish to lend our voice to notions which might suggest that same-sex couples are a threat incapable of sharing relationships marked by love and holiness and, thus, incapable of contributing to the edification of both the Church and the wider society,” Lynch wrote. He cited last fall’s controversial Extraordinary  Synod  on the Family, saying the Church must respond to a s

New Homophiles insistence on “gay” identifier is a serious problem

Image
It was all but inevitable. The New Homophiles have finally made the big time, the front page of the  Washington Post  Style Section, above the fold no less. Eve and Josh sit fetchingly on a couch, Josh’s legs crossed exactly precisely just so, Eve’s bare feet, Josh’s dirty socks, lips pursed, college text books prominently displayed. Out of the shadows come the celibate “gay” Christians, writes Michelle Boorstein, frequent picker of Catholic scabs. Such a story was all but inevitable because it is such a good story. Here is a group of smart, young-to-youngish Catholics and Protestants announcing their unabashed and unashamed “gayness,” yet announcing also their fidelity to Christian sexual morality. No “gay sex” for them. Such a proposition was tailor-made for a media that is obsessed with all things “gay.” And after you run out of the first gay this, that, and the other, what’s there to write about? Hey, over there, look, they’re “gay” and Catholic but they still have a gripe

Gosford Anglican Priest Rod Bower says Jesus believed in marriage equality

Image
The Australian ABC reports that "Father Rod Bower is not your average priest. The Anglican Church minister is on a mission to keep religion relevant, and is using his parish notice board in Gosford on the NSW Central Coast as a way to get noticed." His most successful (and immoral and non-biblical) message was one about marriage equality . He is quoting a Stonewall's (pro-homosexual anti Christian organization) UK campaign that used UK buses to force the idea of immoral homosexuality onto everybody. PHOTO:  Father Bower's sign addressing the debate around gay marriage.  (ABC TV) With the help of social media it has been seen by an estimated 50 million around the world. The ABC quotes Bower directly "What inspires me and us, as a faith community of course, is the life and teachings of Jesus .  So we stand for what He stood for, what we believe He stood for, which was justice and equality , compassion and a society that looks after the edges, that

Gay activists hurl feces at German parents protesting pro-gay school curriculum: report

Image
GERMANY , March 28, 2014  – As parents in Germany have protested a new pro-homosexual “sexual diversity” curriculum in their schools, homosexual activists have attacked them by hurling feces and destroying their property, according to the  Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians , which documents anti-Christian incidents in Europe. "Protesters were physically attacked and it was felt that the police failed to protect the parents’ basic right of assembly ," said a  statement  from the Observatory describing incidents at recent rallies in Baden-Württemberg and Cologne. According to eyewitnesses, says the Observatory, "Christian parents were shouted at with obscenities.” "They were spit at, eggs were thrown, and little bags with feces or color. Cables of loud speakers were torn out,” the organization says. “Pages were ripped out of the bible and used to wipe backsides, then formed into a ball and thrown at the parents.” "Chri

Boycott Starbucks supporters of homosexual marriage

Image
I was asked that question last week, as a result of some controversial statements made last month by the coffee company’s CEO in which he publicly supported gay marriage. But what about Glle, The Family Man, Ellen and other immoral shows? If I were a coffee snob, I probably would have answered that we should boycott Starbucks because they burn their beans. But I’m not a coffee snob. And I knew that wasn’t really the heart behind the question. My actual response went something like this: If your conscience is pricked by drinking Starbucks coffee , then you should not drink Starbucks coffee. That is a decision that you ought to make in your own heart before the Lord. But if other believers choose not to join you in your boycott (because they don’t share that same personal conviction), you should not judge them for responding differently than you do. While it is not an exact parallel, the situation regarding food offered to idols (addressed by Paul in 1 Corinthians 8-9) provides us
