Gosford Anglican Priest Rod Bower says Jesus believed in marriage equality

Image
The Australian ABC reports that "Father Rod Bower is not your average priest. The Anglican Church minister is on a mission to keep religion relevant, and is using his parish notice board in Gosford on the NSW Central Coast as a way to get noticed." His most successful (and immoral and non-biblical) message was one about marriage equality . He is quoting a Stonewall's (pro-homosexual anti Christian organization) UK campaign that used UK buses to force the idea of immoral homosexuality onto everybody. PHOTO:  Father Bower's sign addressing the debate around gay marriage.  (ABC TV) With the help of social media it has been seen by an estimated 50 million around the world. The ABC quotes Bower directly "What inspires me and us, as a faith community of course, is the life and teachings of Jesus .  So we stand for what He stood for, what we believe He stood for, which was justice and equality , compassion and a society that looks after the edges, that

Politician bullies Pastor over homosexuality

Another great disappointment in the campaign is the answer Kevin Rudd gave regarding gay marriage on the ABC ’s “QandA “ programme on Monday. Now, I think Kevin is a good bloke, but he seems to have adopted, not just the completely subjective hermeneutic of liberal Anglicanism , but also the smug and sneering arrogance of liberal church leaders towards those who argue for the Christian understanding of marriage (or anything else, for that matter). So, I was pleased to read this statement by the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney , Dr Glenn Davies , about what Kevin said: “Kevin Rudd was profoundly wrong in his understanding of the Bible . He misquoted the Bible and attributed to the Bible something that Aristotle said (that slavery is a natural condition). The Bible never says that. The Bible sees slavery as the result of fallen and broken relationships in society and it is crystal clear in its condemnation of the slave trade . I was disappointed by Mr Rudd’s comments last night in the

Homosexual rejected for entering priesthood, heads to human rights tribunal

Arms of the Diocese of Auckland. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) A homosexual man is taking the Anglican Bishop of Auckland to the Human Rights Tribunal after being rejected for training as a priest . A hearing begins today following a complaint from the man, who says he feels discriminated against because of his sexuality. It is understood the man - who is in a sexual relationship with his partner - has wanted to enter the church's training programme for priests for years. But after applying to enter after years of study, he was rejected by the Bishop Ross Bay, who approves entrants. Bishop Bay told  One News  last night that he was simply following the church's doctrines. The man was rejected "by reason of the defendant not being chaste in terms of canons of the Anglican Church ," the bishop said. That means that anyone wanting to become ordained needs to be in what the Anglican Church deems to be a chaste relationship - a marriage between a man a

New Archbishop of Canterbury promises to 'listen very attentively to the LGBT communities'

LONDON, November 9, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Prime Minister David Cameron has chosen Justin Welby , the former bishop of Durham, as the new Archbishop of Canterbury to replace Rowan Williams . Welby has wasted no time in revealing his interests and intentions regarding the hot button issues facing the Church of England like homosexuality in the clergy and the ordination of female bishops. In comments that are unlikely to settle any of the disputes within the 77 million member global Anglican Communion , Welby said he agrees with the Church of England bishops’ opposition to “gay marriage” but wholeheartedly supports the ordination of women. “In 10 days or so the general Synod will vote on the ordination of women as bishops,” he said. “I will be voting in favour and join my voice to many others in urging the Synod to go forward with this change.” In a brief speech following the announcement of his appointment, Welby said he supports the decision of the House of Bishops to oppo

Archbishop of Canterbury admits: Most Anglicans don’t support same-sex marriage

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, November 5, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Despite apparent support for same-sex “marriage” from leadership in the Anglican Church, Rowan Williams , the Archbishop of Canterbury admitted recently at a youth forum in New Zealand that most of those who fill the pews of Anglican Churches around the world favor a traditional definition of marriage. Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury. According to a  Taonga News report , the comment came during a question-and-answer session in which one of the participants asked, “New Zealand is debating a bill to authorize same sex marriage. What do Anglicans  have to say about same sex marriage?” “The Anglican Church has quite a lot to say about this issue – but it’s not always the same thing that people are saying,” Williams responded. “I’d say that for the vast majority of Anglicans in the world, the idea of same-sex marriage is not something they can come to terms with.” Bishop Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bi

NZ bishops attacked by clergy for damning gay marriage

A letter to young people from Roman Catholic bishops condemning gay marriage has been rejected by other liberal Christian leaders. The letter to " Kiwis of Generation Y " from all six of New Zealand's Catholic bishops advises against allowing same-sex couples to marry in the eyes of the law for the sake of "society as a whole". "This is no small matter, nor quibbling about words; this is an attempt to re-engineer the status and structure of family life in New Zealand," they wrote. Fifty liberal clergy and laity from Anglican , Presbyterian , Methodist and Quaker denominations lashed out at the bishops and called on them to reconsider their position on the Marriage Amendment Bill. I think it's time the Church recognises and encourages those in same-gender relationships who wish to pledge their love and fidelity to each other in the rite of marriage," the group wrote back to the bishops, ignoring scriptural injunctions. "To suggest,

Churches object to homosexual marriage not because they are loosing power

English: Lady Gaga holding a speech at National Equality March (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Gary Bouma author of  Being Faithful in Diversity: Religions and Social Policy in Multi-Faith Societies and   professor of sociology and associate priest at St John's Anglican Parish, East Malvern believes churches are objecting to homosexual marriage because they fear loosing power.   Hollywood has made de-facto relationships famous and normal along with homosexual relationships being promoted as normal with Will & Grace , Lady Gaga and Glee . Regardless of the health statistics, relationship breakdown and multiple defacto relationships strewn across the landscape. There is no doubt that civil celebrants offer marriage services to the unsaved who do not wish to darken the walls of a church, because they have lived together in fornication and at some point want to legitimate their relationship often because someone maybe preganat. Some defacto's choose to use a cele

Andrew Wilkie,  (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Archbishop Peter Jensen ... 'not all can be or should be married. PARLIAMENT will once again be embroiled in the issue of gay marriage from today as two private members' bills to legalise such unions are debated in the House of Representatives, with a vote on the bills likely to come after the winter session of Parliament. A report by the House of Representatives social policy and legal affairs committee on the two bills, one from Labor's Stephen Jones and one from the Greens MP Adam Bandt and the independent MP Andrew Wilkie , will also be tabled this morning. The committee's chairman, Labor MP Graham Perrett , said it was the largest committee inquiry ever held, with responses ''pretty strongly in support'' of change. The committee used an online poll to gauge community sentiment, with 276,437 people responding and 64 per cent backing legalisation.  Was anybody aware of this poll, except the hom
