Texas Judge Dianne Hensely refuses to marry homosexuals on religious grounds

The left would like every American to accept their narrative that same-sex marriage is a done deal and has been fully embraced throughout society. Of course, that narrative is nonsense. A strong majority of voters made their views on same-sex marriage quite clear by going to the polls to ensure that marriage remained the union of one man and one woman. Even after the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v Hodges imposing gay ‘marriage’ on the nation, a majority of Americans still believe in traditional marriage. Further, there is overwhelming public support for the concept that no American should be forced to participate in a same-sex ceremony against their deeply held beliefs. In Waco, TX Judge Dianne Hensely has been admonished by the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct that she must officiate same-sex ‘weddings.’ Hensely is a devout Christian who according to media reports maintains that her Christian conscience and beliefs will not allow her to perform same-sex ‘weddings.’ Sh

The Commonwealth Government has  released the second version  of its draft legislation dealing with religious discrimination issues, for further comment before it is formally introduced into the Federal Parliament in the New Year. There are a number of important changes from the previous drafts which in my view make it a much better package of amendments. But there are areas for improvement. Background Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the background to these proposals, but for those who are not, I discussed the genesis of the currently proposed reforms, and summarised the first Exposure Draft of the  Religious Discrimination Bill  (“RDB1”), in  this post , and  this previous post , and in somewhat more detail in  this submission  to the Government. The main ones included: the definition of “religious activity” excluding broa

Hallmark Christmas movies are known for their feel-good atmosphere and are generally movies which can be enjoyed by the whole family -- without having to explain sexual practices which offend against one's faith. Unfortunately, one of Hallmark's representatives, Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming for Crown Media Family Networks (owned by Hallmark), recently told TheWrap.com: “We are continuing to expand our diversity. We are looking at pitches for LGBTQ movies..." This petition asks Hallmark to keep sex - including the promotion of homosexuality, transgenderism, etc. - out of their Christmas movies, and movies, generally.  Unfortunately, this petition is necessary because one of Hallmark's representatives, Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming for Crown Media Family Networks (owned by and maker of Hallmark movies), recently told TheWrap.com:   “We are continuing to expand our diversity. We are looking at pitches for LG

A manifesto detailing the strategies transgender lobbying organizations have used to rapidly gain political power and unheard of cultural influence also provides insight into how the western world suddenly finds itself kowtowing to the extreme demands of trans ideology.  The title alone is alarming: “ Only Adults? Good Practices in Legal Gender Recognition for Youth .” Although the slick 64-page document deals with specific practices and tactics that have proved successful for expanding transgender policies and power in a general way, it primarily focuses on how to hand power to children to declare whatever gender they choose while squashing parental authority and concern. Only Adults? Good Practices in Legal Gender Recognition for Youth Over the years, progressives who seek to fundamentally change society have diligently developed strategies that win. They don’t promote ideas that win on their own merit; in fact, they have had amazing success promoting ideas that most people
