SOGI LGBT laws are about coercion not freedom

Image
Current proposals to create sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) laws with varying types of religious exemptions would not result in fairness for all. The most prominent model for creating specific LGBT policies while showing concern for religious freedom is known as “fairness for all,” a phrase used by proponents to describe a law first adopted in Utah and similar proposals in other states and potentially at the national level. The “Utah Compromise” was a law enacted in Utah in the spring of 2015 that created sexual orientation and gender identity anti-discrimination policy in employment and housing, while also creating certain religious liberty exemptions and protections. Indiana attempted (but failed) to pass similar legislation in January 2016. Thus far, no fairness for all legislation has been introduced at the federal level, but there is a discussion among advocates about doing so. Instead, they would penalize many Americans who believe that we are created male and

‘Freedom for All’ law means pro-LGBT coercion of Christians

Image
Does the golden rule ever require bad public policy? That's the implication of what some political strategists are proposing in the name of fairness. At issue is a proposal among some Christian leaders to strike a compromise with some LGBT activists to balance "LGBT rights" with religious liberty. The proposal would elevate "sexual orientation and gender identity" (SOGI) to protected classes in federal law in exchange for certain exemptions for religious colleges and institutions. They call this approach "Fairness for All. " Compromises can be good, but this particular one is bad. As I explain in a recent issue brief , such proposals would not result in actual fairness for all. Instead, they would penalize many Americans who believe that we are created male and female, and that male and female are created for each other. They would violate the privacy and safety of women and girls, the conscience rights of doctors and other medical professionals,

Evangelical groups back ‘sinful compromise’ on homosexual discrimination, religious liberty

Image
Two prominent evangelical organizations have formally endorsed federal legislation that would ostensibly protect homosexual Americans from discrimination without infringing on religious exercise, but social conservative leaders warn that the stated principles could still be exploited by pro-LGBT activists. The boards of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) have passed motions endorsing the addition of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) language to federal nondiscrimination law, WORLD reported . In October, the NAE Executive Council unanimously passed a motion that affirms “God created human beings in his image as male or female and that sexual relations be reserved for the marriage of one man and one woman” and endorses “First Amendment guarantees that protect free religious exercise,” while at the same time declaring, “No one should face violence, harassment, or unjust discrimination on the basis of

11-year-old ‘drag kid’ dances in popular NYC gay club as patrons toss money at him

Image
Perhaps sensing the horrific optics of the event, LGBT news sites have assiduously avoided reporting that their favorite 11-year-old drag kid “Desmond Is Amazing” danced on stage in a New York gay bar while adult male patrons tossed money his way as if he were a male stripper. The pre-adolescent boy, dressed in drag to imitate singer Gwen Stefani, pranced around the stage at Brooklyn’s  3 Dollar Bill , an LGBT bar described as “queer owned & operated,” and “Brooklyn’s Premiere Queer Bar & Performance Venue.” While none of the major LGBT news sites have chosen to highlight Desmond Is Amazing’s performance at the club, some liberals and gays have taken to social media to criticize – if not condemn – the event. “11-year-olds are too young to be performing at bars. This should not be legal,” declared “God is not Real” on Twitter, adding, “I'm a liberal democrat.” “I left after seeing a child dance on stage for money at nighttime. This was on Saturday night and I hav

Vimeo censors Christian group for videos on overcoming same-sex attraction

Another prominent video hosting site is cracking down on content supporting therapy for unwanted homosexual attraction, according to the California-based nonprofit Church United. The group, which is dedicated to “equip(ping) pastors as culture-changers” via events in which they “hear high-profile leaders share about the current spiritual crisis,” revealed last week that on November 23 the website Vimeo notified Church United founder and pastor, Jim Domen, that the group had 24 hours to download copies of all 89 of its videos before the account would be permanently shut down. At issue were five videos on the subject of Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE), particularly controversial California legislation that was withdrawn in August but would have banned virtually any form of treatment for unwanted same-sex attraction. The videos featured Dorman and other pastors, as well as personal stories from ex-homosexuals who attest that such change is possible with the right help. “Your

Mattel meeting with gay couple to consider Barbie same-sex ‘wedding’ set

Homosexual celebrations could be coming to toy aisles nationwide soon if Barbie manufacturer Mattel accepts a proposal to produce sets of same-sex “wedding” dolls. SINFUL INDOCTRINATION OF KIDS BY LGBT IDEOLOGY Matt Jacobi and Nick Caprio are a homosexual couple in Arizona that plans to get “married” next May. In comments on Instagram and to ABC 15 , they explain that they wanted to get a special birthday present for Jacobi’s 8-year-old niece, who will be a flower girl at their “wedding.” Jacobi is also an E! reality TV personality and contributor to Instinct Magazine. “We thought it would be special to give her something with a little meaning behind it,” Jacobi explained in a post addressed to Mattel. “What a bummer you don’t make one with two grooms.” So they bought a Barbie wedding set and an extra Ken doll to make a package with two grooms and two flower girls. The post got the company’s attention, with a spokesperson confirming to Good Morning America that the company ha

Australian Labor Party - Criminalising Gay Conversion Therapy

Image
The Australian Labor Party controlled by LGBT politicians considered a policy proposal to criminalize ex-gay conversion therapy. The party had originally had, in its draft platform, a policy that "opposes the practice of conversion and reparative therapies on diverse sexuality and genders and seeks to criminalize these practices". The policy was welcomed by LGBTI zealots but was a cause for concern for the Australian Christian Lobby, which said the policy would result in Christian parents having their children taken away if they seek counseling for them if their child says they are same-sex attracted. "To group religious beliefs, prayer or voluntary counseling in the same category as coercion, electric shock therapy, and bizarre boot camps is dishonest. It smuggles a chilling non-existant ideological agenda into the conversion therapy issue," Australian Christian Lobby managing director Martyn Iles said in a blog post . Labor senator Louise Pratt, a spokespers
