That’s what two recent headlines proclaim. What are we to make of this?  Before we evaluate these announcements, it’s important to understand that we are not discussing people who are intersex. Those people have a biological or chromosomal abnormality in terms of their sex. By very definition, they are born that way. It’s Not the First Time It’s also important to remember the many sensational headlines that proclaimed a gay gene (or the like) had been discovered. Every few years, a new “discovery” would be made “proving” that people were born gay. That would soon be replaced by the latest “discovery.” None proved definitive. Back in February 1992, a cover story for Newsweek featured the face of an infant. Printed on its face was question, “Is This Child Gay?” In July 1993, The New York Times ran a story titled, “Report Suggests Homosexuality Is Linked to Genes.” Yet today, 25 years later, even left-leaning, LGBT -affirming organizations do not claim people are born gay. You’d think that a manufacturer of men’s business suits would favor a conservative image, but not Holland ’s Suitsupply . The clothing manufacturer angered many families in the Netherlands with its sexually-explicit advertising, which appears on posters and billboards. In the past, the firm has used photographs that exploit naked or near-naked women; more recently, they have shown men in homoerotic poses. More than 5,000 of these advertisements have been posted in Holland. In response, 10 men belonging to the Dutch pro-family organization Stichting Civitas Christiana held a demonstration in Nijmegen’s Keizer Karelplein Square on March 10. They all wore suits. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services no longer hosts a webpage on lesbian and bisexual-specific health issues, a government transparency organization revealed Wednesday. The Sunlight Foundation  reports  that the Trump administration has deleted from HHS’s Office of Women’s Health website a page titled, “ Lesbian and bisexual health.” The  original URL  leads to an error message and the page is inaccessible from any other part of the site. The page, archived  here , said that while “all women have specific health risks,” lesbians and bisexual women are at greater risk for heart disease, cancer, certain sexually-transmitted diseases, depression, anxiety, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) . It further claims that lesbians and bisexuals face unique problems in the healthcare system, such as doctors who lack the training for their specific needs and health professionals who don’t believe a lesbian or bisexual woman “can be a healthy, normal female.” A  PDF doc

A Washington state school district has paused a sex education course after an instructor told a 12-year-old girl her enjoyment of fishing and basketball meant she was transgendered. Madness! Seattle Fox affiliate Q13  reports  that Jason Peterson , single father of five in the Sequim School District, says his daughter came home crying after a November class where she was told the sports she liked “were boy things,” which meant that “she was a boy inside and that she was gay.”    She “was very confused by it,” Peterson  told  NBC King 5 . “She likes playing basketball, she likes going fishing with dad, she likes skateboarding, and she likes being a girl.” He also highlighted an apparent double-standard in that, while LGBT education is commonly sold as promoting tolerance, the teacher was the one “discriminating” against his daughter’s “identity.” “I think people should be free to be who they are,” Peterson said. Psychologist and free-speech hero Dr. Jordan Peterson recently condemned the indoctrination of seventh-graders into gender ideology, what he called a new “unquestionable doctrine” that is “completely insane.” Speaking to actor and podcast host Duncan Trussell earlier this month, Peterson explained that harmless-looking cartoon characters such as ‘genderbread person’ or a unicorn are used to teach children that their biological sex , psychological sense of their sex, the way they dress, and their erotic feelings towards others are all independent of each other.  “Sometimes it’s a unicorn, and sometimes it’s a gingerbread man, and it’s called the Gender Unicorn or the Genderbread [person].
