The Bible Does Reject ‘Transgender’ Behavior

Image
With the op-ed “ Where in the Bible does it say you can’t be transgender? Nowhere ” (Aug. 26), the Washington Post apparently feels no embarrassment from publishing such a poorly executed attempt at exegesis of the biblical text (this from 3 weeks ago; it’s hard to keep up with nonsense). I had already responded on Aug. 15 to a badly done New York Times op-ed that claimed that the Bible depicts God as transgendered and affirms gender fluidity. The WashPost op-ed arrives at a similar ideological objective (i.e., claiming that the Bible is not opposed to transgenderism) but from a different angle. Rather than make the case that the Bible endorses transgenderism it attempts to argue that “there is not a single verse in scripture that discusses transgender identities.” The author is a certain Eliel Cruz who is identified as “a bisexual Christian writer” and “executive director of Faith in America ” (a organization which, according to his bio , is “dedicated to ending religious based

Florida county on verge of banning ‘conversion therapy’ for gender confused kids

Reparative therapy for minors is one step closer to being banned in some areas of Miami-Dade County, Florida . An ordinance   banning counseling or treatment for same-sex attraction or gender confusion passed unanimously last month at a Public Safety and Health Committee hearing . The regulation now faces a full commission vote,   according   to NBC Miami . “[...] It is shown by data and medical evidence that [ conversion therapy ] is dangerous and detrimental,” said Commissioner Sally Heyman , who introduced the measure in May. Banning the therapy throughout the county as a first step would have slowed the process, she said, because in that case the county would have to go through each municipality’s government. She hopes the ban spurs the other cities action in issuing a ban. If the ordinance passes the full commission vote, reparative therapy for minors would become illegal in unincorporated parts of Miami -Dade County. Heyman is urging other cities in Miami-Dade Coun

Gender dysphoria purely a ‘social craze’ that will lead to regrets: psychiatric expert

Image
The “transgender” phenomenon is an “ongoing social and psychological experiment” with children used as guinea pigs and which society will come to regret, says an expert in gender dysphoria. Moreover, evidence shows that   80 percent to 90 percent   of children with gender identity confusion “revert to their natal sex” if they are “left to their own devices,” says Dr. Paul McHugh , a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine . “We’re doing experiments on these children,” said McHugh, who was chief psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins for 25 years, and has more than 40 years’ experience working with people with gender confusion . “We should tell everybody this is an experimental procedure right now, and that experiment is not being done with controls. It’s not being done with clear statements to the parents that we can’t tell what the outcome’s going to be,” he told LifeSiteNews. "A very large number of these families

High school students petition for removal of teacher’s LGBT pride flag

Image
Students and parents at Auburn High School are asking for the removal of a gay pride flag hung in one of the classrooms by a teacher, ironically applying the argument used to take down Confederate battle flags and statues of Civil War figures from government buildings, college campuses and other public venues. The pride flag in the teacher’s classroom “creates a hostile and provocative learning environment for students not comfortable to openly supporting the LGBTQ + community in a public school where students come from diverse political and religious backgrounds,” according to a Change.org petition filed by Andrew Monk of Auburn. The petition had nearly 3,600 signatures by press time with an initial goal of 5,000. The teacher is identified in the petition as Mrs. Yeager. The Auburn High School website lists Justin Yeager as a mathematics teacher and Donna Yeager teaching social studies. The petition further states, “It is unprofessional and distracting for a teacher to be so

Pro-homosexual Fr. Martin should not be in ‘position of responsibility’: evangelical bible scholar

Image
Evangelical Bible and homosexuality scholar   Robert Gagnon   adds his voice to the widespread Catholic criticism of Vatican communications consultant Fr. James Martin over Martin's pro-LGBT advocacy. In April,   Pope Francis appointed   the socially “progressive” priest consultor to the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communication. Gagnon, author of " The Bible and Homosexual Practice : Texts and Hermeneutics," said   Martin , editor-at-large at   America   magazine, “has no business being in a position of responsibility in the Catholic Church .” He was reacting to Martin’s interview last week with a   San Francisco “gay” newspaper,   Bay Area Reporter , in which he claimed that among the reasons that people have reacted “viciously” to his   “bridge-building” efforts   toward homosexuals is that they have “visceral disgust at same-sex relations” or “hatred of LGBT people .” The most important reason, Martin said, is that his opponents potentially have “discomfort

Question: Why should Christians care if same-sex couples marry? If they are unbelievers, why should Christians dictate their actions? Shouldn't we just worry about preaching the gospel?

Question: Why should Christians care if same-sex couples marry? If they are unbelievers, why should Christians dictate their actions? Shouldn't we just worry about preaching the gospel? This question is based upon the false premise that Scripture assigns the accountability to marriage to Christians alone rather than to society at large. Christian concern for marriage is deeply concerned with the moral risk taken by unbelievers when they marginalize, reject, subvert, or harm marriage in any way.  Christians believe this risk threatens acting parties with eternal consequences. Furthermore, it is quite selective and arbitrary to say that when it comes to same-sex marriage , Christians should not ask unbelievers to act like unbelievers. Why should that request be limited to same-sex marriage?  Should it be applied to other aspects of the criminal code?  Should Christians not expect non-Christians to live by the same civil laws they live by?  Should Christians require n

Question: Homosexuals testify that marriage makes them happier and does not hurt anyone, so how can this be wrong?

Question: Homosexuals testify that marriage makes them happier and does not hurt anyone, so how can this be wrong? One of the most dangerous ideas about today's morality is the suggestion that we should limit human behavior only on the basis of identifiable harm. Reducing morality to the avoidance of harm is dangerous because it tends to reduce harm to that which is immediately identifiable in an individual's experience or in society at large. Legalizing same-sex marriage does not mean the heterosexual couple next door will experience immediate harm. It does mean marriage as an institution is harmed, however, which weakens the social cohesiveness and health of the entire society. The problem with arguments concerning the morality of harm is that much of what causes the most devastating and lasting harm is not readily apparent. In many aspects, the law recognizes that reality by establishing patterns of right behavior. The violation of these patterns would cause no imme
