Missouri governor faces impeachment over pro-gay ‘marriage’ executive order

JEFFERSON CITY, MO , April 25, 2014 -- Republicans in the Missouri State House have brought three charges of impeachment against Democratic Governor Jay Nixon . The main charge relates to an Executive Order by Nixon that allows same-sex couples who "marry" in other states to file tax returns jointly in the state. Nixon said he was forced to make the decision because of how the state and federal tax codes are linked, but Republicans say it violates the state's voter-approved constitutional amendment banning same-sex "marriage." Jay Nixon at a 2008 rally "This is such a blatant and serious violation of Missouri's constitution and Missouri law that the governor should be removed from office,"  said Republican legislator Nick Marshall . The Executive Order  came after   the Supreme Court declared the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional. One of the other resolutions relates to Nixon not calling for special elections fast enough for

Nobel laureate: ‘Troglodyte’ Pervuian bishops rejection of gay unions like ‘Nazi racism’

LIMA, Peru , April 25, 2014  – In a press release published two days ago, the Peruvian Bishops denounced “insulting” and “disrespectful” statements made by Nobel-prize-winning author Mario Vargas Llosa against the Catholic Church as he voiced his support for same-sex civil unions , an initiative being considered by the Peruvian National Congress. Mario Vargas Llosa Vargas Llosa was responding to a recent statement by the Peruvian Episcopal Conference in which the bishops called Peruvians to stand up for the “inalienable values of family,” and called civil unions an “attack against the human dignity of Peruvians.” Family, they said, “is not a human creation but an institution in natural law that is inscribed in human nature.” The bishops noted that “the proposition of civil unions between persons of the same sex is contrary to natural order, [because] it distorts the true identity of family.” “Its defendants invoke the right to equality but forget the reality of the und

Archbishop of Wales: We ‘have evolved’ from the Bible’s teaching on divorce, why not gay ‘marriage’?

LLANDUDNO, Wales ,  – The Anglican Church ’s “views have evolved and changed” on the nature of marriage “a subject which Jesus pronounced very clearly,” the head of the Anglican Church in Wales said this week; therefore, it can also change its teaching on homosexuality. In  an address  to the governing body of the Church in Wales, Dr. Barry Morgan, the Anglican Archbishop of Wales warned of the danger of the Anglican Churches being “seen as homophobic.” Morgan said that the Church’s views “evolve and change” as it responds to the changes in the secular world. Abp. Barry Morgan of Wales “The State allowed the possibility of divorce and remarriage for a long time before we did as a Church. Not only do we now bless such unions, we actually remarry divorced people in our churches,” he said. “Some people have changed their minds for example on women’s ministry and same-sex relationships when they have experienced the ministry of a woman priest in the one case, or discovere

Should we use words like: Adulterer Christian, Porn Christian or Gay Christian?

In his new book God and the Gay Christian, Matthew Vines seeks to legitimate homosexual practice among evangelicals. I responded to this heretical teaching yesterday in my post about the new Southern Seminary eBook , God and the Gay Christian? I quoted a section from my chapter on the church’s historical teaching, a chapter that has now been posted in full over at the Council on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood . Today I’d like to think a little more with you about Vines’s use of the term “gay Christian” (I also commend to you this excellent and stirring post from my SBTS colleague and New Testament expert Jim Hamilton). This is not a new descriptor, but Vines has infused new meaning into it. Authors who have previously used it have done so with the understanding that “gay Christian” is essentially equivalent to “born-again believer who experiences, to some degree, ongoing same-sex attraction and who willingly resists gratifying this desire.” Vines, however, uses the term to essenti

Homosexuality:Is a ‘Gay Christian’ Consis¬tent with the Gospel of Christ?

Author: Heath Lambert Is a “gay Christian” consistent with the gospel of Christ ? Matthew Vines’s answer to this question is the exact opposite of the one provided by historic Christianity . Vines’s book, God and the Gay Christian, is an unfortunate reversal of thousands of years of moral clarity about homosexuality. He says, [I]t isn’t gay Christians who are sinning against God by entering into monogamous, loving relationships. It is the church that is sinning against them by rejecting their intimate relationships (162). Just 20 years ago, it would have been unthinkable to propose such a statement. In 2014, the core conviction of a significant book by a major publisher is that the nearly unanimous, historical understanding about the sinfulness of homosexuality is now the problem. It would take a massive amount of argumentation to justify such an extreme and innovative position. But one of the most significant problems in God and the Gay Christian is a faulty assumption that le
