Three-person ‘stable union’ registered in Brazil

Image
August 29, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Two women and a man living together in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo have registered their relationship as a “stable union,” according to local media sources. The action follows a decision by the nation’s Supreme Tribunal to allow homosexuals to enter into such unions, despite the fact that they are defined in the Constitution as a union between a man and a woman. The decision led to a lower court decision extending the eligibility for homosexuals to marriage itself, although the verdict has not yet been recognized throughout Brazil . “Stable unions” exist in Brazil to regulate cohabiting couples who are unmarried. The homosexualist Brazilian Family Institute (IBDFAM), which openly favors polygamous unions as well as same-sex ones, welcomed the most recent decision. “We have to respect the private nature of relationships and learn to live in this pluralistic society recognizing different desires,” said the group’s vice-preside

Eugene Luther Gore Vidal was born in 1925 on the campus of the United States Military Academy at West Point . For decades, Vidal was one of America’s most outrageous men of letters. His life was marked by a long series of confrontations and he died as one of the nation’s most famous and infamous literary figures. Like many in his literary generation, Vidal was born to privilege, but suffered from an unhappy childhood. His father, an aviation pioneer, was the head of civilian aviation in the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and later became a founder of TWA. His mother was a deeply troubled socialite who was the daughter of U.S. Senator Thomas P. Gore of Oklahoma. Most of Vidal’s childhood was spent in the Gore home in Washington, D.C. Atheist Anglican adopts homosexual marriage

There is a growing controversy coming out of a local church in New Zealand after they put up a billboard advertisement that supports same-sex marriage. Reports coming out of New Zealand indicate that a liberal Anglican church in Auckland is behind a billboard that supports same-sex marriage by depicting two female figures in bridal gowns on the top of a wedding cake with the caption: "We don't care who's on top." Biblical opponents of the proposed legislation insist that laws in New Zealand currently grant equality and that the issue was not about equality, but rather, the uniqueness of traditional heterosexual marriage. "Equality doesn't mean sameness … marriage has always been about the relationship of a man and a woman because of their natural potential to have children," Bob McCoskrie, founder of Family First, said in a statement. The church, St. Matthew-in-the-City, revealed that it produced the billboard advertisement recently in order to exp

Minnesota Supreme Court removes deceptive marriage amendment ballot title

ST. PAUL, Minnesota , August 28, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) — The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Monday that two elected state officials overstepped their authority in changing the title of a marriage ballot initiative in support of traditional marriage against the will of its backers. Supporters sued after Secretary of State Mark Ritchie changed the title from “Recognition of marriage solely between one man and one woman” to “Limiting the status of marriage to opposite sex couples.” Mark Ritchie Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and ActRight Legal Foundation attorneys represented numerous state legislators as well as the committee supporting the amendment in the suit. “Minnesotans deserve to have free and fair elections, and they deserve to know precisely what they are voting for,” said ADF Senior Counsel Jordan Lorence, who argued before the high court as lead counsel in the case, Limmer v. Ritchie, last month. “Because the Legislature wrote a ballot title for the ma

August 28, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) -  A lawsuit  filed by a homosexual against Liberty University School of Law and various other organizations and individuals for “conspiracy” and “racketeering” is based on lies and is defamatory, according to law school dean Mathew Staver , who says that he will “pursue every recourse” against the plaintiffs for having filed it. Staver also says that the suit is an attempt to undermine the freedom of speech of pro-family groups in their opposition to homosexual behavior and homosexual parenting. Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella “This is outrageously frivolous,” Staver told LifeSiteNews.com. “It’s a press release filed in federal court. It is sanctionable, and we will pursue every recourse possible because this suit is defamatory. It’s filled with lies, it’s frivolous, and the attorney who filed it ought to be sanctioned…” The suit, filed on behalf of Vermont lesbian Janet Jenkins, claims that Liberty University School of Law, Th
